I'm interested in Maglevs.

in real life my only touch with transport is that every day I am one of the passenger ... I'm traveling public transport alone since I was 8 year old ... anyway I somtimes catch myself browsing town maps, plans (usually transport maps), maybe in future I will work in a transport departament ... never know

I'm more interested in bigger maglevs.

Not with transport as such, but I would quite like to go into planning, which to an extent will involve it.

yes i' m in love with transports. But i already said it in the "what do yo do" topic, here it is.

I m studying spatial planning ( basically, determine why and where to build transport infrastructures ), History, Political science and Chinese because China is the place that need transports to be built in the next 50 years.
It's the reason why i write in my sig that tt did change my life.My it's exagerate. At least it has played an important role

When I was 7, my parents were so fed up with spending their weekend time in the metro with me ( as I was always asking ) that they let me take it alone ( I already knew the paris map better than them--> by heart )

my only transport interest is the transport to and from school.

Maglevs are the future, to bad they are only good for long distances...

Since it takes along time to slow from 500km/h.

huh? why? decreasing speed with a maglev is just as easy as increasing speed...they switch the sections in the track behind the maglev on, and it will decrease speed quickly if wished?

Do you have a website of something with more information on maglevs?

On short tracks you can make them run slower, then you need less energy.

if germany stops working on maglev project as they said 2 months ago (they won't link Hamburg and Berlin) China is not going to choose this technology to link Beijing and Shangai, but an ICE/TGV system (for some reasons I can give if someone asks 1). China may be the only country able to buy such costly infrastructures (for some reasons I can give if someone asks 2). so if china choose the classic High speed train tech. (on rails), they may only use this one forever. (for some reasons I can give if someone asks 3) meaning that this is the end of maglev. It has to have a commercial opportunity.
The maglev comes too late or too early, i think (for some reasons I can give if someone asks 4)
But I 'm not sure of what the japanese are doing, but as theyare about to have the biggest economic recession in their history, their project could also die.

It's just a case of politicians taking the wrong decisions. Maglevs can be cheaper then ICE/TGV, while being faster.
Maybe politicians don't dare to do it becaus it's an unproven technology, but that was off course also the case when the first trains were made.

I hope that they (and the others) will continue with the projects instead of wasting money with wars.

Me too. I think it would be very good for the US economy. When in a recession, big projects often help, like the Hoover Dam in the twenties and the Apollo Project in the sixties.
The US government would really show courage if it were to push through.

I'm interested in MagLevs, any kind of future transportation, the upgrading of Hungarian transport network, new trains (Siemens Desiro, for example) &c. I don't like cars, however.
I travel every day by tram of trolley or underground. For 10 years, I was a commuter, travelling every weekday by train.

Yes, trains are wonderful but my true passion lies with trucks. I will graduate from college this spring and after that I plan to earn my Commerical Drivers License, Class A. This will allow me to drive the big boys, like the sexy beast below.
