Invalid cfg line (alpha 6, 7 and 8)

Post by DominionSpy »

I added writecfg ttdpatch.cfg to update it and got the message

Invalid cfg line 'enables new station graphics.'

screen grab and cfg file included.

the best will bve when you remove:

// **** New switches ****
// `newstations' (-Yn) enables new station graphics.

and leave only:

newstations off

atm I have:
arcticsetw.grf
tpaperw.grf
dbsetw.grf
tropicstw.grf
elrailsw.grf
newshipsw.grf
signalsw.grf
tempsetw.grf
trkfoundw.grf
LongBusesw.grf
McTrucksw.grf
ScaniaTrucksw.grf
VolvoTrucksw.grf

in my newgrf.cfg file

You don't need tpaperw.grf with Alpha 5 and later versions.

Just so you know - the same thing happens in alpha 7, but this time the message says: "Warning: Invalid cfg line 'r a period of time, so you can remove unued roads if they're in the way. You also get the ownership of unowned roads if your vehicles use them.'."

I've removed the offending line. Is there an easy way to fix this?

What is the problem?

It happens in alpha 8 as well (same line as in previous post).

Why does this happen?
It doesn't matter if you think it's too complex for us to understand, just please post an answer, thanks.

Did you try to let TTD write a new config file?

Possible problem: broken line endings

You mean:
writecfg ttdpatch.cfg ?
that's what caused it in the first place.

If you mean just delete it - I don't use the defaults and I don't want to go through change them again.

See, but for me (and probably just about everyone else), this works fine and doesn't put in those broken lines.

So you're doing something different that causes this bug. You need to find out what's different before I can fix it.

You'll have to do some research and find out, for example, using writecfg with this ttdpatch.cfg the bug is triggered, but with that one it isn't. If you can find such two files, send them to me and there's a good chance I'll be able to fix it.

However, first you have to find out why it's only your computer doing this. Otherwise I can do nothing.

You aren't trying to run TTDPatch under Wine are you by any chance? I had this problem - I had to use a native MSVCRT.DLL instead of the Wine one for it to work. As you haven't mentioned Wine or Linux though, I guess you aren't...

I don't like to Wine :D

Saying I don't like Linux is putting it lightly :P

I will try and do that for you Patch (I wouldn't do it for anyone else, you know).

[edit]
The difference is whether I have enhancedgui set to 14 or 31.
31 it works fine, 14 it brings up that error. The file also has to be missing the comment for abandonedroads and the new switch in alpha 8.
Attachment is ttdpatch.cfg that when the patch is run causes the error on my system (running on XP)

OK, confirmed. Looks like TTDPatch gets confused when the ttdpatch.cfg it's currently reading is overwritten, I'll fix that.
