OpenTTD 1.1.0-beta1

It's time again, as a little Christmas present we present the first beta of 1.1.0. As usual you'll need a graphics base set which can either be the original TTD base set or OpenGFX. New things in this release include extended support for NewGRFs (especially NewObjects), an industry chain preview and much improved handling in the GUI when loading games and configuring NewGRFs (including their parameters). There is also a new admin-interface which allows server control over another network port. Check out the whole list of changes in the changelog.

Also we recently started to provide binaries for Mac OS X again, thus this release is also available for Mac users.

At the same time we'd like to encourage people to have a thorough look at the translation into their preferred language. Now is a good time to get your language up to date for the upcoming 1.1.0 release. In order to register as translator you need an account with OpenTTD (e.g. the one you might already have for the wiki or the bug tracker) and notify the translation manager (see here for details) of their desire to help with translations.

We would like to thank everyone who has made this release possible, happy testing :-) and a good holiday season to all of you.

Note: there is a crash bug with the "autorail" feature and the version for the Windows binaries is incorrect making it impossible for a Windows client to join a non-Windows server and vice versa. Both of these issues are fixed in the nightlies and will be fixed in 1.1.0-beta2.

Brilliant! Excellent! Etc!
And OS X support again as well :D

I'm guessing trunk is not yet branched (until release candidates?) and new features can still be added

Merry Christmas!

I'm confused, why does it say r21615 in the top bar and not 1.1.0-beta1 or something like that?

It says for me "1.1.0-beta1". What download (OS, version, link) do you talk of?

For me it says r21615 in Windows. (And I've manually checked the finger-page that it suggests the beta-download and not a nightly version. OTTDAU also shows the correct changelog so it is most likely a problem in the version label detection in OpenTTD)

Windows XP Professional x86, Win32 Version of the game (ZIP archive), link is http://binaries.openttd.org/releases/1. ... -win32.zip and even for me it tells to be r21615.

As others said, I have r21615 on Windows Vista Home Premium x86. Not tried the 9x version, OpenTTD would munch up my P4 PC the way I play... it munches this one so xD

It would appear that I got a piece of coal, a serious fault condition, caused by an assertion failure. The crash.log, crash.png, crash.sav are in, along with a picture of the error message (Assertion.png).

I apologise for ruining your Christmas.

Matthew:out

BTW, it shows the version as 1.1.0-beta1 on my computer (Mac 10.4)

Hi, I have already submitted this as a bug and it's been confirmed.

Well, Christmas begins at 4 p.m. on 24th of December and ends at 12 p.m. on 26th of December (at least in Germany) :) So nothing ruined so far :D

*sigh*

I thought it was 4 a.m., not p.m....

I (with someone else) have found a problem within a day of release. Not good... :(

When stirring the cake the *new* wish is for OpenTTD to be fixed...

You say 'supporting'...

My bug was on OS X, so on that basis, it isn't...

Thank you! I'm gonna love this one, lots of new functionality.

I think you misunderstand something, that something is supported again only means that the official devs will look into issues as they consider they are able to fix the issues. This does not mean that there cannot be any problem with a release, that's what beta's and minors are for: finding and fixing the issues. That you play an official OSX beta binary is good because you help to spot bugs devs may not would have found themselves.

Until 1.1.0-beta2 comes out, I'm sticking to 1.0.5...

I believe you forgot "Matthew:out". American Pie did you no good.. No one makes you a specific version, though if you want the game to improve, you should really be trying it out and help the developers, who decided to support OSX once again, to figure out the problems.

I'm disappointed that no server has updated yet, or that I can't find one. :(

Hello MrMann,

as you might know, it's christmastime!
It may be, that most of the serveradmins are on their couches with their families ;)

Merry Christmas,
Tim
