Maximum Factory Goods Production??

Post by Grated »

Hi,
Is there a maximum for a factory to produce goods?
I keep hanging around 27000 goods/month while I have doubled the number of trains that service this factory...
Shouldn't this keep increasing?

that is the maximum production, indeed. about 255 items every 256 ticks for every tile the industry covers. 256 ticks is about 8 to 9 times a month

production limit is roughly 2295 per industry tile per month. For factories, it means 12 * 2295 = 27,540 crates of goods per month

Damn too bad :)
It would be nice if this could be increased but I suppose that won't be possible ? :)

appearently doesn't work :)
Tried to build 3 more factories, but they all produced nothing ;-)

And 500 trains coming to one station should provide more than enough items to produce more goods ^^

I guess the only solution is to build a new station and a new factory, and move 250 trains to the new station.

actually, the real solution is to implement an algorithm to distribute cargo over several nearby industries :p

it should be posible to use mulitple factories for 1 station:

if you read carefully, they use the word "balance". that means they built multiple stations and had to redirect the trains between them

But why is there such a limit? Is it a technical issue?

Any chance that OpenTTD would implement a feature that would allow a station to drop of @ more than one factory?
So we can double or triple or whatever the produced goods if we build another factory.

You can already do that. If these factories are close enough, you can build an enormous station to get them both in the catchment area. Alternatively, you can make "separate" parts of the same station by using the CTRL option when placing station tiles (pressing CTRL enables you to add non-adjacent tiles to an existing station). Mind that you cannot exceed the maximum station spread that you've set in the advanced options menu.

Also, that is why a feeder service has been "invented". You feed cargo from several sources into a "hub" station, using local routes - smaller trains or RVs. Then you use larger systems (bigger trains on the main lines i.e.) and transport it to the main destination

I'm not sure is it possible.
All cargo from station go to ONE nearest consumer.

Yes, you can create huge stations, but they keep delivering to only one industry. Not to the one closest or something...

Aaaah! Sorry!!! I read incorrectly your post. I understood you were talking about picking up cargo FROM two or more factories. My bad!

Kogut is right. It's currently immpossible. The factory closest to the station picks up all the cargo (I think the first placed tile counts as "ground zero" of that station).

Once again, sorry for my mistake.

that's no problem :-)

I created a ticket for this: http://bugs.openttd.org/task/3790
Who knows one day it will be included :P

I just thought of it: you CAN specify which factory gets cargo - you build two separate stations, one for each factory.

BTW, even with your idea being possible, the production won't "double or triple" as you said. Any industry produces only as much as it gets raw materials.

It was bad wording to say double/triple... What I meant is that the production would no longer be limited to 27k but to the number of goods that are coming in... So depending on how much goods come to the factory's, the more goods ;-)

Yes you can create different stations, but I don't want to create different stations... I like to build HUGE stations with huge amounts of trains all coming to the same station ;-)

you could use waypoints in front of multiple stations to guide trains to them, giving each station 1 factory, maybe not the best explanation
