Inflight incident... Diversion to next suiteble airport

Hello,
I know about the everlasting discussion about huge large disasters. No, don't worry, today nothing like that.
Further I would like to suggest to find a way to realize inflight events of A/C. I mean incidents, that makes the crew performing a diversion to the next suiteble airport, no crashs or explosions. Just a landing for safety reasons.
In real life, there are dozens of reasons, why crews decide to land anywhere else:
- birdstrike (take-off or during approach)
- electrical problems
- medical incident
- smoke or smell in the cabin
- problems of cabin pressurization
- ... (look at http://www.avherald.com/ or http://aviation-safety.net) for all the other events
In compairison with other suggestions, this perhaps can be realized easily.
1.) Select an airborne A/C and decide to "let it have an incident"
2.) Find nearest airport
3.) Find out, if its runway allowes landing
(If the nearest airport does not allow landing try 2nd nearest airport)
4.) Send it to its the hanger for a maintenance
5.) continue original schedule
(with or without PAX/Cargo???)
6.) Send a nice notification to the player (newspaper, newsticker - or in case of disabled news just nothing like that) that discribes him the event ("Aircraft #24 performed an emergency landing at XYZ airport, due to [type of event]. After a check and mainenances any malfunction have ruled out and the airplane continues its jerney to [next scheduled destination] with a delay of 3 hrs.".) As an example, I mean in this style: http://www.avherald.com/h?article=42920f31&opt=0
I can't find a tough nut on it, isn't it? Even to find the nearest airport should be easy to realize. Think about all the increadible feature of YARF-Pathfinding for trains!
What can be usefull consequences for the player?
1.) Less income due to delay
2.) Costs of maintenance
3.) Reduction of reselling price of the A/C by some percent.
4.) No lost of the whole A/C due to the incident
In my opinion, this would be a great new feature and makes airborne transportation in OpenTTD a little bit more realistic.
What do you think about it?
Thank you and regards
