Off peak tickets - does that include all weekend?

Hey guys

I'm buying some tickets to the london area for a couple of months time: 8th May specifically, but I don't know what the different tickets are.

What exactly is an off-peak ticket travelling through london? I'll be heading down on the saturday and back on the sunday, does that mean I'll be off peak no matter what time I travel?

Cheers

You'll have to check for the individual ticket. What's the journey exactly? Any ticket seller powered by WebTIS could tell you at a single glance, ie: the East Coast website :)

Off Peak doesn't always guarantee travel before 9.30am, even on longer distance journeys.

All the journeys I looked at said basically that it was available, so I'm going to presume it wouldn't offer me tickets I couldn't have?

Lancaster-Euston at about 20 to 8 on the saturday
The tube to Marylebone
Marlebone to Wembley arriving at about 11:30

Then the reverse leaving Wembley about 12:30 (or 13:30), arriving back in lancaster at about 6:30 (or 7:30)

In that case then I don't see why it shouldn't be available, if the fare comes up for that timed train :)

The National Routeing Guide says that the online booking engine trumps all :)

I wouldn't be going via Stevenage considering that's where the opposition will be coming from :-)

Thanks though, that clears things up - we were just trying to work out if we had to avoid any specific trains.

FA Trophy mate, Setanta Shield doesn't exist anymore - the trophy's way more important though. It's the FA Cup but for little teams :-)

But yeah

Oh shag aye I saw Stevenage had gone through. I've been on a day out to Wembley with Albion in the semi-finals of the FA Cup (tears were had but whatev) and it's an amazing, brilliant experience. Just visiting the place is a warm feeling.

That's quite a hefty price. Is that just one way or return?

I was looking at travelling from Stevo via London Kings Cross/Euston up to Crewe/Manchester way at one point and it only cost around £25 return.
Can you get a travel-card for London from where you are coming from?

And also, weekend is always off-peak. As far as I'm aware (from experience), peak times are Mon-Fri, between 7.30am(?) and 10am. Not sure about evening times but I know during weekdays morning peak time ends at 10.
Weekends have no peak times that I'm aware of. Or they certainly havn't when ever I've been on the train there.

And Jamie, are you suggesting there is something bad with Stevenage? heh :wink:

Edit:
Ended up looking out of curiosity and found it is indeed a lot for a return but two singles appear to bring the cost down to £40 withj the right combination of times.
Lancaster to Wembley Central (Via Wolverhampton & Watford Junction) - £26.50 - 3 hours, 48 mins
Wembley Central to Lancaster (Via London Euston) - £13.50 - 3 hours 11 mins.

Hmm, might have to look at refunding these tickets and getting that, thanks for the heads up!

The first one is with three changes and takes over 80 minutes longer than Lancaster-Euston direct.

Worth the extra 20 quid imo.

Lancaster-Wolves-Watford Junction is a pisstake haha.

Ah so that's what SVR stands for.

For some reason I thought Sacro was asking about it and not audigex.
Shows how awake I am at times heh.

To be fair - they've now all been renamed, but for some reason, the codes haven't...

SVR = Off Peak Return
CDR = Off Peak Day Return
CDS = Off Peak Day Single
SOR = Anytime Return
SDR = Anytime Day Return
SOS = Anytime Single*
SDS = Anytime Day Single*

*Do these two tickets exist?...
I also remember buying a Standard Open Single once (Castle Cary -> Birmingham New Street) but I also remember buying an Standard Day Single for shorter journeys, so therefore what would be the difference?

Well I have an Anytime Day Single ticket for Wakefield to Sheffield on the 30th March sitting in the other room, so I assume at least one of them exists...

You're correct.
