Favourite font?

I was just thinking about this. What fonts do you guys prefer and why?

Personally, when it comes to reading or writing lengthy things like articles or essays, I am a traditionalist and prefer Times New Roman. But for other things, Arial or Calibri will do.

Anything that isn't Comic Sans MS. That font should die.

I have taken to using Cambria in documents since Office 2007 came out, it's quite nice. Otherwise, something along the lines of Times New Roman works, or I guess Computer Modern if I'm writing my document in LaTeX.

Oooh! Don't get me started on fonts and style!
After trying quite a few last term, I've finally worked out a style for my essays :D
Lorem ipsum.pdf
(22.94 KiB) Downloaded 158 times
It uses DejaVu Condensed for the headings, and Helvetica for the actual prose. I've come to detest Calibri due to its overuse - Segoe UI is much nicer, even though Calibri is based upon it. I also quite like Gill Sans MT, particularly when used in SmallCaps.

Calibri is perhaps a bit overused these days, that's why I quite like Cambria - it's a slightly more elegant Times New Roman. :)

The one thing I would personally suggest though, Jamie, is that you justify your text, rather than having it left-aligned. Personally, unjustified essays and the like look really ugly and unprofessional to me. :(

Palatino is my favorite web-save font :)

Times New Roman for "traditional" fonts, Bible Script and Dom Casual for "funny" and English111 Adagio, Presto or Vivace for script fonts.

You're quite wrong there, it should exist solely for Super Mega to use.

Arial in general and common usage, but I like to have BritishRailDark where possible.

Also use VTCBadVision for my video titles (irony name :D).

My preference is towards Times new Roman or Calibri, however I quite like Palatino Linotype as well :)

I typically type in Cambira. I prefer a serif font.

Perhaps it can be licenced for the very few approved uses that exist. ;)

I prefer Tahoma or Arial, don't tell me I'm the only one who does? :?

No you'r not I like Arial, but I must say for less formal uses I'm keen to use Calibri.

I find since Time New Roman is the default font in word if I do something in it it just doesn't look like I've made the right effort.

Depends what we're talking about. I wouldn't want to write a paper in Tahoma. But I wouldn't want a user interface in Times New Roman, either!

Of course, of course. I thought we were talking about computer use only.

For.. well, papers, I'd indeed prefer Times New Roman or something amongst those lines.

Network West Midlands signage was in a font similar to Comic Sans for a while:

Made me want to kill myself really. Fortunately LM have come in and sorted that out at most stations.

Oh and if I submitted an essay like Jamie Lei's I'd be penalised four percent of my mark for not 1.5/double line spacing.
