anyone knows if
those sketches in google 3d warehouse are licensed in any way?
there is a pretty big collection over there
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ and i see no license information only direct downloads ... (if it was licned google would have probably added a major warning)
if so than using this
tutorial: Importing Google SketchUp files into Blender 3D can be very useful ...
those does look good

These resources are very interesting.
If we get permission of the authors We can use them.

neob: I think, as per usually with google, you give google all rights to your data and you get no rights from them.
But you still own all your data, and take responsibility for it, so I think the owner can release it publically as they please.
Section 11. I can't find it stated anywhere the licence for that specific artists work, or any other artists, so I imagine it's just left blank and is copyright by default. Contact the owner I reckon.

@Ben_Robbins, i read that too, still its kind of strange on google part to allow everyone a free download without any mention of license
beside what is the point of allowing to download of source files if not for using them... (unless its intended to be used only on their service)
but i dont mind asking the artist for permission, problem is that non of those profiles include emails ...
anyway i seen you speak about textures and resizing and playing with them until its considered ok to use it
isnt importing that sketch to blender and adapting is kinda the same

Google says to downloaders:
For the avoidance of doubt, you may modify, distribute, and create derivative works of Content uploaded by other users in 3D Warehouse.
Google says to uploaders:
You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, sublicensable, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content or derivative works thereof which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

Sounds nice and fuzzy... It would still be curteous to ask the original artists.

I think it could be a good idea to use sketchup models.
but in many cases like trains there are no corresponding models with the original ones.
