Looks nice.
One question. You say you always wanted cars driving around.
So, is it local traffic (unowned), or do you have to buy it for transportation?

Actually they look like minivans, but OK.

I replaced one of the busses for the screenshots. I will wait until the TTDPatch 2.0 is realeased as an Alpha Version. The Problem is that a german Taxi usually can load 4 Passengers (3 on backseat - 1 next to driver). Thats to less to make it efficient for TTD. I will design VW Vans. Using VW Vans means that a Taxi can carry up to 8 Passengers. That seems not much efficient but I think that will work for the entuisasts.
@krtaylor
Well I made them pixel by pixel. The next generation will be big pictures that I will resize. I think thats the way the Microprose artists did it in several Games.

Hey, I'm not complaining, it's a cool idea.

I never sought you would be complaining the hole idea or the grafics. Its just that I think that this Taxis are not as good as they should be. Its right that some of the sprites are looking as if they would be minivans. That brought me to the idea to make Minivans and normal taxis.

Personally I would prefer to have the taxis, and normal cars as well, provided by the graphics engine as "just being there." But if the AIs like to use them, that would provide more traffic which would be nice.

Perhaps if you make it so even though taxi's can only hold 4 or 5 people, the rate (like in eral life) is 4 to 5 times that of a bus so in effect they are efficient, and much faster than buses... you could have a taxi rank type of bus stop

4 or 5 times faster? That would be, what, 175 mph.?
Seems about right.

I like the idea of normal traffic in your towns to lighten up the place a bit
But carying 3 to 8 passengers will give very bad ratings, your passengers will pile up, so you can only do it with: distant busstations from the center or attached to aircraft terminals
This last option seems very good indeed, I see it usable when you have 2 terminals in a town, each on the other side
You can just use 5 to 6 taxis between them, it will look good and your rating won't be bad, because after all the planes are doing the heavy job
Now my concern is: which truck/bus will this replace, because I 'm using George's long vehicles
Perhaps you should use an id that is free ??

@spaceman
yes I will use an unused ID.

Now I wonder if it's possible to modify it this way. You have own taxi stop places which doesn't fill up with as much passengers as useal then you get more money for transporting them. That would make it more realistic.

In Australia, they are called "Taxi Ranks".

The thought of new kinds of stations has come up before and the answer seems to be an emphatic NO. The best you can do is fiddle with the graphic appearance of the station, but you can't change the patterns the vehicles move once inside it either. They are working on a way to set the appearance of train stations (freight vs. passenger), but that would have no effect on gameplay nor on the way trains move within it. If they got this working, in theory it would also be possible to make a "bus station" that looked different, more like a taxi rank, but in reality it would just be eye candy - it would work exactly the same as the existing bus stations. Also you cannot change the size of anything.

At the moment I make the design. When the design will bear near finished I will think about the Stations. In Munich were I live the busstation at the Central Station is also used by Taxis. One lane is for the taxis the other lane is for the busses. So its quite real that taxis and busses use the same inviroment.
Maybee someone of you like to join this project? Two different artists will make the look of different taxis more interesting. The Taxi design should chance several times during gameplay like the trains and waggons from the DB set.

I wonder if that might be a way to save on slots - there only ever is one taxi, but it gets more modern looking as time goes along. I suppose you'd set it at 55mph from the very beginning.

@krtaylor
yes 55 seems to be very good but I don't know if the vehicles can be chanced. Possible, because when the design can chance it should be possible to chance the settings also.
That makes it also a lot easer for the players. Its annoying to replace 35 vehicles. Sound like leasing. Always get a new car when the old one is payed.

Dude, I swear, it seems like all you do is dig up old topics. This is over 2 and a half years old?! If there's no release stated on the last page, chances are it was never completed/released.
Please, stop being a topic digger.
