Need a little help/info

Hello,
I'm getting started with TTD with again. Last time I played it was almost 9 years ago and on my Pentium 90Mhz

. I have some unanswered questions about the game and a weird problem...
- Lumber mills produce about 180 tons of wood per month. When there aren't any trees left in it's surrounding area it stops production completely. I always place trees next to it to prevent that from happening, but you have to keep repeating that every two months or so. This gets pretty annoying after a while. Is there any way to avoid having to place these trees every time?
- When I use transportion on the road I normally buy 5 verhicles in one time. It's time consuming to constantly repeat setting the destination for every truck. Goto this, goto that, goto this, goto that, .... ARGH. You get the point
. Is there a way to only do that once and copy the route for the other trucks?
- Is it possible to see the radius of an industry? When there's an oil well near the coast I'd like to know if it's possible to place a port to transport the oil using ships or e.g. that I have to place a train station. Is there a way to figure this out because the industries only show what they accept, and not what they depose.
- Now about the problem: I downloaded the windows version of the game and the unofficial patch. I installed everything (on W98se) and started the game clicking on the patch executable. I go to the options, select using $ and metric system and start a new game. Once the game started I had to go to options again, because my own settings had been reset. Then I build a train station, a port, whatever,... and wait for the goods so I can transport them. Nothing! I don't receive anything!
When I start the game without the patch, I DO get goods in my stations. Is there something I have to do/change to make the patch work properly?
Thanks a lot if you can help me,
Edward.

Ad 1) You are talking about tropical lumber mill ??
Ad 2) TTDPatch developers are working on that
Ad 3) The radius is always 4 squares (as far as I remeber Rafinery is exception, where you have to have one part of it in radius)
Ad 4) When playing Scenario then Options from scenario are taken, when playing NewGame(random) then options from TTD are taken. About nothing receive read more about new Unload handling in TTDPatch Manual (switches: selectgoods, feederservice)

Make sure you have plantmanytrees = 3 in your CFG file

There is a version off ttdpatch capable off this, look in the patch progress topic on the ttdpatch general forum

Not possible

1) Yep, sorry forgot to mention that. The building looks a bit like a cabin that you find in the woods.
2) Great!
3-4) Thanks

Hi , nice to see a fellow countryman
With this cheat life is very easy
Place a sign and type
Cht: PlantTrees 20 20 1
By repeating this you can plant trees of type 1 on 20 by 20 squares around your lumbermill
Try it out, different types of trees around
Great thing is that you can just repeat this cheat by unchecking it and pressing ok
Using cheats is described in the manual

I can't find this line in my .cfg file. Do I have to add it? I use the latest TTD patch at this moment.

Which latest version ?
We're all using the beta patch
What does it say in your config file at the top ?
The version should be in there
Edit: look at my file

Pfff it's all starting to make sense now

.
What I did was check out the patch forum and clicked on the sticky 'download mirrors'. Apparently they are pretty outdated. Right now I installed the proper beta patch and it seems to work better hehe.
Thanks for all the help,
Ed.
PS @spaceman-spiff: ik woon wel in Brussel, maar van nationaliteit ben ik Nederlands. sorry je te moeten ontgoochelen

Hmmm, yet another question. When I start up the game it runs really really fast. Like there's no frame limiter and the CPU is free to run the game as fast as it can. Airplanes and trains reach astronomical speeds

. I tried the search but didn't find anything about this problem ( or I need to get my search skills in order

).
Thanks,
Ed.
** edit ** Never mind. It's been a long day I guess

. Everything's in order now and I can finally enjoy playing again.

it's planespeed switch .... normally in TTD planes speed is dividing by 2.5 ... with this switch on there are no dividing

it's 2.5 not 4...

If you have the morenews option on (I don't know if that's exactly what it is, check the beta manual), you'll get a news message when a lumber mill runs out of trees. Click on the message text and your view will shift to the lumber mill in need of trees.
They're right about the planes (hey, now they're actually useful!), and if you want realistic train speeds be sure to set both Curves and Mountains to 3333. (note: I recommend the TTDX Configurator for the boggling amount of options that TTDPatch has acquired as of late!)

Plane speed is divided by four

Actually TTD unpatched slows the planes down to 5/8 of their original speeeds.

Sorry to post in an already off-topic topic, but please
read the manual:
Josef, in the TTDPatch manual, wrote:TTD normally divides a plane's speed by four when calculating how fast it should move across the map.
so they go at 1/4 of their original speed.

Well, somewhere, on this forum, quoted from the manual, I found the above.

Nope thats the NEW breakdown speed
OLD breakdown speed is 216MPH (?KMPH)

Although I have said it's 2.5 on many occasions, that was my mistake. The manual is correct. To test this, turn off the switch and make a plane that supposedly goes 296MPH. 296 / 4 = 74. Buy a train that goes as near to 74MPH as you can, and race the train with the plane. You'll find their speeds are very close.
Unpatched TTD would slow down a plane to a set speed when they broke down; this speed was significantly slower than the slowest plane. Patched TTD limits planes to 5/8 of their top speed during a breakdown.
