Early post wrote: Hi,

I'm new here, but I play OpenTTD at least for 1 or so. I noted that OpenTTD Community doesn't have the São Paulo Metro yet, so I decided to start a project to make the 4 models (Mafersa/Budd, Mafersa, Cobrasma, Auston - 1nd in 1999-2000 2nd 2007-2008). But now, I'm really lost, I've been reading this tutorial after some Google queries:
http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... RFTutorial
Is well detailed, but I don't imagine how I start editing PCX's Sprites. What program I need to use to proccess sprites? The Sprites section didn't tell what editor use.

Thanks,
Att. Pedro

Hello

The start is good, try to improve the bottom part , where the wheels are placed (it seams that the engine is floating  ), and it seams that the windows have the background colour, try to put a light grey (or maybe i see wrong).

It seems a little bit too light, want to darken the grey a bit?

I touched up it quickly, I think it looks better, but I still not do shading.
The change what I do:
-Make the top visible from on horizontal view
-Make the chassis at all view
-Change the window's colour, but maybe it's not a good idea...
Roughly this much, there is the pic:

Hi,

Colossal, thanks, you have saved my weird first graphic.

I'll make some modifications before pack the GRF... Next I'll make make the Mafersa (Line 3).

More suggestions to colossal's version?

SL and Petert, I'll update the first post with this suggestions, but I think that is alrady solved in this graphic...

Thanks all...

colossal404, I like your drawings, but in prppedro's drawings, he had the dark blue-ish windows, which gave the train a "new" feel. But I do very much like the nice dark gray.

Well, but the train was mede in 1974, so it don't need to feel new...

Hum... If it's look by this point... The SP Metro is well maintained, so the SP Metro trains in nowdays have a diferente look:

But yet in nowdays some Budd-Mafersa trains (The half width cabin model) have the traditional Metro logo (My avatar) between 2 blue lines. The colossal model show the train as the train after the construction, without the first livery, bare metal.

Maybe have alternative liveries depending on year built?

No, it's released in bare metal, and some months before operations, was painted a Metro logo between 2 lines in 74, after this, metro trains are repainted againt to the blue front in 90's... Other liveries is with other trains (Cobrasma, Mafersa-Line3 and Auston Milenium, that was released with blue front since the manufacturing.

Why no, you just stated 3 possible liveries in your reply:
Starting: Bare metal
Short while later: Metro Logo
1990's+ : Blue front
it sounds like a good idea to me...

ahm... I understood now... Yeah, can be a good idea... The SP Metro has ordered all trains to be delivered in 1974. But OpenTTD gammers really will not buy 53 trains on first order :D... So it's a good idear a per-year livery... Anoted!

While I wait for more feedbacks here, I'm working in a more easy project, trolley buses that are integrated with Metro. See the site for more details, I'll post it after I have done the Metro GRF.

having a bus that follows the tram track?

Re: [Project] São Paulo Metro Trains

by prppedro
Sounds strange... But it's a trolley bus (Eletric Bus), so it need to have a 'catenary'... Do you imagine a Trolley Bus catching energy from the air? hehehe... It, yes, sound strange... Currently it's a fail of OpenTTD, because Trolley Bus are active in various world cities...

So I'll need to use tram tracks as palliative solution.

Thanks, PrPPedro

how I start editing PCX's Sprites. What program I need to use to proccess sprites? The Sprites section didn't tell
Obviously you have already found a programme which suits you; usual programmes are either photoshop or gimp being used, for both are also readily available the colour palettes which (O)TTD(P) uses, I haven't checked so far whether your sprites use it.

Currently we (mostly DJN, but I'll support him as good as I can) are thinking of slowly setting up and preparing for a v2 of the 2cctrainset since the v1 as you know it is a complete mess code-wise in many ways (it's a learning curve ;-) ). Your sprites definitely would be a nice addition to what is already available in the current set. Are your sprites released under GPL v2+?

Keep up your nice work, I'm definitely looking forward to more pixelwork from you :-)

regarding the trolleybus... how about creating a tram track .grf that has only the catenary... however, it's an iteresting idea having this trolleys, but i think many tycooners wont be interested. Try to make a poll (people to vote if they think trolley is or isn t a good idea) to know if it will have success.

This is very easy to do, but would be hard to play with as there are no catenary graphics for the u-turn tiles, have a look at my suspended monorail set for the problems you may get...
