Metro Westside Connection Proposal (Los Angeles County)

I think this is a nice little bit of information for those of us who live in or around Los Angeles.
It is annoying to have to take the Metro Rapid down Santa Monica Blvd. IMO
This little subway add-on should do quite nice ... of course, God knows how long the construction will take with all those public hearings and draft planning, but I guess it's necessary. They're actually
going to build it so I can't complain.

That's pretty cool. LA shoudl have quite a system soon.
The BRT is also pretty impressive.
California seems to be taken mass transit really seriously. The TGV type services between LA and SF look amazing.

If it actually gets built.

I would like to see it built, completing the original plan for the red line. And then the "Subway to the Sea" will finally exist. Should make some nice ads.
(That is, I'd be happy if it's built right. Though there isn't really much to do wrong. Basically precise routing or station placement.)
I'd gladly ride the purple line into Santa Monica, since it's bound to be faster than taking Expo to Fourth Street.

Yeah, I wonder when they'll have it done ... as far as I saw, they'll still be planning this into 2010, per the website.

This is California not the UK
So it might happen. They built a bus rapid transit line in about 5 years flat.
I have been working on one piece of infrastructure for my whole career (ok so i'm under 30, but it was on the table years before then too).
We're are going to get eaten alive unless we stop pansying around and start actually building stuff instead of shuffling paper around.

Well quite. I remember Crossrail being announced by John Craven (I think) on Newsround in the late 1980s...
