Problem with gamegfx and now TTDLoadW.ovl

Oh, infinite wisdom one's :bow: :wink: ;
I installed, everything as suggested, and even copied over the directplay.dll file. I go into it, through all three ways and it says that the gamegfx.exe stopped working and it closes everytime after a few seconds of running. I'm using vista, so what am I having a problem with?

OH NEW ONE, It's because transport tycoon only works on windows 95, and, 98. Go get Dos box or find the graphic files for TTD and you can play OTTD. And also you can download the OpenGRX set and have newer graphics.

Or you can install TTDPatch. Since TTD already (almost) works, just drop the TTDPatch executable in that directory, and run it instead of gamegfx.exe.

Also, TTD works just fine in DOS and Win 3.x. I know. I played it on those OSen.

I did run it from the patch instead of gamegfx as well and gamegfx was what was making it crash. I got the download version and the patch installed and in the same directory.

If GameGFX.exe is crashing, then you didn't run TTDPatch. If you want to play TTDPatch, you must start ttdpatchw.exe every single time.

Well I scrapped everything and reinstalled it into the same folder. Now I have problem TTDLoadW.ovl, when I click on the TTD patch icon. I erase TTDLoadW.ovl, and then it comes back. Anything?

Post the most recent crashlog (CRASH###.TXT) and your config (ttdpatch.cfg).

If the former does not exist, follow the directions in my signature.

Okay, Dale, I didn't get a crash log, and I did the debugging thing, and here is the screen shot.

You skipped a step somewhere. Most likely, you failed to click the Run button after attaching.

See where it says "CPU - main thread, module ntdll"? That is wrong. Try again, and this time, make sure that says "CPU - main thread, module TTDLOADW".

Its not seeming to pick up on the TTDloadW.ovl crashing, because I can't seem to "attach it'. it just doesn't come up. I tried to put that "debug" thing in and it just ignores it after i push a button. Any other ideas? I've really wanted to play this game.

You're going to have to try that post again.

Starting with either "Debugging a crash" or "Debugging a crash (alternate)", tell me every single action you took[0], what the results were, and if/how those results differed from what you expected.

Also, I still need your config. A version number for TTDPatch would be helpful too.

[0] Every mouse-click or keypress (except alt-tab) in the TTD, TTDPatch, or OllyDBG windows, plus any editing of the cfg, if so directed.
