Hey. Now I have worked with South Sweden for a while, and not until now I got the lakes to be fixed without doing it manually. :P

I worked with Southeast Sweden earlier and this is like a forthcoming.

This is still a "beta", so there a A LOT of things to do, but a good start. :)

Here are some screenshots:
Northeast part of map.
Northwest part of map.
Southwest part of map.
Southeast part of map.

Things to do: Terraform the northen part. Flatten out a lot of the central parts maybe (Lakes are like big holes in the ground). Delete A LOT of industries (And maybe place out them manually). Fix "Mälaren" and lakes around that. Replace some citys and place out some minor citys.

Feel free to do anything of above or do any improments that you can think of. :)

//Markmc. :)

EDIT: Remebered that I should set a licence to the map.

I put it under Creative Commons by-nc-sa v3.
In short: Attribution (by): Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform the work and make derivative works based on it only if they give the author or licensor the credits in the manner specified by these.
Noncommercial (nc): Licensees may copy, distribute, display, and perform the work and make derivative works based on it only for noncommercial purposes.

Great work! Thanks! I've played it to 1991, it's a good map!

When do street cars come available? Or why are they disabled? Or is that a setting on my side?

Cheers

Thanks, great that you liked it. :)

I havn't disabled them what I remember, so that's probably some setting you have. :)

Well, I've been playing around with this for a few days now...
There are guaranteed to be lots of errors in the stuff I've done, but I really just did it for my own fun.
IMPORTANT: This is made with (and probably requires(?)) the 'Swedish Houses Set 1.0' and probably 'European Roadset 1.24'.
Made with OpenTTD 1.0.0

Known errors:
Towns that are far from water are bound to have placement errors. Some errors might be large.
It is very likely that there are towns 'missing'.
I have not removed the terraforming craters from lakes...
Main stuff:
Towns are all roughly the size of current town (not 'kommun') population divided by 40.
All towns redone, many, many towns added.
Göta Kanal and Göta Älv are sailable.
(Mostly) sailable connections made into Oslofjorden, Halden, Uddevalla, Stenungsund, Norrköping, Södertälje, Mälaren and Norrtälje.
Water along northern border of map replaced with wierd mountains.
Industries:
Coal Mines - Pure fantasy (semi-random accross the map in Sweden)
Power Stations - The nuclear power plants in Sweden + Stenungsund oil plant and Halden nuclear plant
Saw Mills- Sourced (=known bigger saw/paper mill exists there). By no means trying to be complete. :)
Forests - Dotted around in the appropriate regions, to place a forest you need flat ground which limits where to place them.
Oil refineries - Complete. These are the refineries that exist in the mapped area. Note that they're just a handful.
Oil platforms - A bunch added in no particular order to Skagerack to represent North Sea oil/gas. Norwegian fields closer to Norway, Danish closer to Denmark.
Factories - Started with sourced, gave up. Placed manually but quite randomly.
Steel mills - Sourced (Wikipedia) (=known that a bigger steel/iron mill exists or existed there). Not complete.
Farms - Placed in appropriate regions using Google Earth imagery.
    Oil fields - none.
    Banks - none.
Iron ore mines - Placed semi-randomly along the northern border of the map.
Just for fun:
All main TV towers in Sweden.
A bunch of lighthouses in Sweden (and one in Denmark).

Note that due to Sweden being a country with a small population and lots of empty woods this map might be quite difficult- distances are big, towns are tiny, not all resources are available in all parts of the map. I've been too busy editing this to actually play it, so be warned.

I do not care about rights - which I guess makes it 'Creative Commons by-nc-sa v3' to the original author, Markmc. See his post at the beginning of this thread.

I played it for a while yesterday and now I'm working on removing the craters that, I guess, is supposed to be lakes. Good thing there is the paint water feature  . Also there will be a couple of sawmills added, I found neither Mörrums bruk nor Mönsterås bruk when I played last night. If I finish it I'll post an update here.

Anyway, enough of my waffle, lets get over to the reason I wanted to post here in the first place: praising of the authors. So, here it comes:

Really nice scenario. I've been missing a good swedish scenario, now I don't have to look further.

Well, I found some errors (spelling) and some doubtful positioning, but nothing major, so I'm not going to work on it more (I'm enjoying playing with it too much now). If you were to edit out the craters and put in lakes, it would be awesome, it's a lot of work, there are literally hundreds of them. Worst part I'd guess is Smålands högland. Probably a town or ten needs to be moved somewhat there as well. Mörrum & Mönsterås bruk I should have caught, but seriously I gave up a bit when I started to think about how the swedish wood industry is, it is everywhere, especially when you go back a bit in time.... :)

Playing this with the 'cargodist-with-sprinkles' patch (passengers that want to travel far and slower game speed) is something I can warmly recommend even though I somehow manage to get the towns to shrink in size.

So, I have replaced all of the southern craters with random lakes. It's not complete and it's not made to aesthetic perfection but we're here to transport things, not look at water, right?

Why can I only build ships? All other vechiels are not available, the buy new list is empty for buses, trains and planes. I can build everything when I play a new openttd game. I'm new to scenarios. I've added european roadset 1.24 and sedish houses 1.1.

Please help! I love the scenario.

It might be that the starting date of the scenario is earlier than the introduction date of your selected vehicle newGrfs. If this is the problem, either use a different newGRF set or open the scenario in the scenario editor and change the starting date to something a bit later.
