Almost certainly a problem with your (or the server's) internet connection. Does it happen on all servers?

Yes i use wireless, but yesterday i used a program that detects all devices connected to my router wifi, and there wasn't any "foreign" devices.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Any time there's a strong transmission in the surrounding area, your wireless router hears more noise. The signal to noise level is crucial to a stable connection. There are supposedly channels that are less likely to have interference take place on them, but I don't know them. I stick to my trusty LAN. Maybe another test you could run is see if you can maintain a connection to an IRC channel for any signifigant amount of time.

Another thing that some cheaper routers come with as default *cough*dlink*ahmmm* is to reset the wireless connections every 15 min. Why? Who knows. Its a default setting for some reason.

Hope your connection issues are as simple as changing a channel. Good luck!

From your computer you should be able to see which channels neighbor networks uses, as well as your own router. Make sure you don't use the same channel as someone else, and if possible keep as big distance from the other as possible. Using different channel means you use different frequencies, which should reduce noise problems. But also check the other tips that have been given in this thread.

If you have a cable, or if you don't succeed with the tips you have got, buy yourself a short (= cheap) cable and test with that so you can rule out the wireless part. Possible also connect your computer directly with your (ADSL) modem or ethernet jack. So you can rule out problems with your wlan equipment/router.

there is a known issue with some routers, the connection seems to die when playing openttd!
try using a wired connection, just to be sure it's not the wireless - eitherway - there is not really much we can do to fix it, as it is not an openttd problem!
