You'd better get started then, if you need to create them.

Then this is your lucky day, because you don't need a grf creator! A simple drawing program and a simple plaintext editor are all you need to get started. Oh, and you're going to need this as well: http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... phicsSpecs

Here is some information and links for all you'll need. Even if you're not going to code a whole grf on your own and will want someone to help you, perhaps you could make a start. By drawing the sprites, for example?

He was quite clear in his posts: Not only did he ask someone to do it, he specifically asked PikkaBird:

Last sentence of the first post:
Jubalulu wrote:Please Pikkabird create this NewGRF
Last post:
Jubalulu wrote:Please Pikkabird create this NewGRF you're the best creating airplane NewGRF :D
The only think he didn't say is, how much he was offering to pay PikkaBird for the contract work , but he probably doesn't want to negotiate that in public

Yep, I misunderstood.. :P I didnt see that last sentence in the first post.
And by some reason I got confused by this sentence:
(...)i need to create a(...)
This is how I understood it:
I thought that he meant that HE was going to make the planes, but didnt know how. And when pikkabird posted here, he clicked the av8 link, found some planes, "WOW! Those planes are cool!", and then he wanted to make pikkabird draw and code them.

Maybe I need to be a bit clearer.

No.

I'm afraid I'm not interested in adding fictional aircraft to av8, and I'm not interested in creating GRFs that neither I, nor I fear many other people, would use.

However, IF you draw the sprites, I will help you with the coding.

Hi Jubalulu. Welcome to the OpenTTD forums.

Unfortunately I don't think anyone will make the grf for you. There are lots of OpenTTD players, but not so many people who will draw and code new grf files.

The guys who can make graphics do it in their own time for no money, and they are usually busy working on their own projects. Quite a lot of people ask for new grfs to be made for the game, and the answer is almost always 'please make it yourself'. :)

I hope that's helpful to you - you're obviously new to the forum, and some of the replies in this thread maybe didn't explain to you why people won't make the graphics for you. We're not being unfriendly, but nobody has the spare time to help you create the entire grf.

The best start is to see if you can draw the airplanes yourself. Then somebody might help you code them.

There are links to 'drawing tutorials' in this page: http://linkage.tt-forums.net/

cheers,

Andy

Untill you have drawn your planes I don't see why you need to make a GRF file. So start visiting the link previously posted and read the drawing tutorials available.

Show some creativeness and draw the planes. When you have drawn them you might have not made everything perfect but post them here and you will get some criticism on how to improve them and you even got an offer from Pikka to help you with coding when you have drawn the pictures.

Basically, when you have shown that you are willing to make the effort to draw the planes, then people feel they are not completely riped off and are more willing to help you.

The key of all forums and communities, show that you have spent time on the issue yourself and you will get better response back. This includes spending time on writing your messages. And don't scream (CAPITAL letters = scream) or demand things.

But it is good that you have collected pictures of the airplanes, that shows that you have done at least some research before posting.

Like I said before, you don't need a grf creator at all.

If you save the coding part for later, then a simple drawing program (like MS Paint) suffices to get you started on drawing the airplanes. You can best start by reading Purno's drawing tutorial. Although with that you'll learn to draw a train, are the basics the same.
