My Plane set

Since alpha 50 it's possible to see real speeds for planes.
That reminded me that TTDX planes are very badly done.

So i decided to change all planes...

The goals :
* Real names of course
* No more mail (except for special mail planes) but only passengers

* Adding new planes instead of pseudo-futuristic planes
- cargo planes
- old planes (before 1930...)
* Changing graphics

I've already begun doing it, at the moment only 3 planes
But since I'm in holidays and here for 1 month, I think there will be updates nearly every day..

** Version 0.1 : - made junkers ju52
- made vickers viscount
- made caravelle

Just a sidenote:
What is wrong with planes carrying mail? All planes in the real world carry mail, why not in TTD then?

Generally there are specialized mail planes.

For example, my national postal company flies in twice a day with its mail plane. Whereas commercial airliners carry passengers, luggage and often freight which is sent by courier or large parcels.

I like the idea. It means mail won't wait at an airport where you only want passengers and don't wanna add a small mail lorry service :D

Ive thought a mail only plane has been needed for quite a while.....

I'm allready working on a planeset, so you don't have to do that.

Allready finished some planes :!:, could you please choose something else to create :?:

Look at http://ttdgraphics.cjb.net/planeset/ for more information

I'm sorry to disappoint you, and I can understand why you didn't knew, there was a topic bout planeset and I said I would make it, but I thought I keep it secret till it is almost finished to get surprised faces, oh well, I will post some work soon now, almost finished a zeppelin, this will be the first plane in the game at 1922 :!:, I'm now searching for some information (speed, capacity) about it, maybe you know a site :?:

As for the site, some values are a bit out of range and not completely correct, so don't worry about it.

I disagree ! Anybody can make a planeset and I do appreciate any graphics work for Transport Tycoon :-) When the sets are finished one might decide not to make another one about the same subject. But there have been many anouncements and some artists even deleted their graphics :-( So please make your planeset, I'm looking forward to any new plane :-)

PS: unfortunately there is a limited number of vehicle IDs, so you might make them loadable plane by plane, instead of a whole unbreakable set

Do you want info about the planes you haven't found any, Dinges :?:

Like the F-13 and the 247?

I can post it if you like :!:

No, I need the Zeppelin first, but you can always supply information on other planes too.

A site that might help you: http://www.luftfahrtmuseum.com/
It's got data about airliners (old and recent too)... I was planing to make one which was created in 1919 :) (even earlier than ur zeppelin)

I will probably still do some work, but maybe only late planes such as A380, Beluga (the one in my avatar), for which I have to do fully the graphics.

Go ahead, maybe we can bundle our work together :!:

Yes - we just have to know which planes we replace so we won't overwrite each other's work

this looks really interesting. i just got the patch beta, and i really like the new plane speeds.....makes them more useful i think :D i wouldn't mind some new and more accurate planes. good luck with the set then :D

You have my list, those ID's are (allready) used by me. There is plenty of room left.

Ok, perfect... I'll tell u which ones i use.
I found a page that gives a chronology of dates of introduction of civil planes, could be useful.

:?: Will any of ya include some of those small but fast jets: like LearJet I guess. It would be nice to have a small charter service :D
BTW, I think that the patch speeds are just a bit too high. Each plane moves like it's a Concorde or sumthin.

 --A polite message for the patchman (if he passes by): adding a single parameter to the planespeed property should be an ok thing to implement. (I have no doubts whatsoever that some people actually enjoy having their supersonic thingies zipzaping around  but, puh-leeeease...)

Also, the idea for the mail plane is excellent. I hope that there will be at least two or three of them. Maybe if you could add some of those planes being specialized for some heavy load (like some military transporters with propellers that still exist). Looking forward to see your work___.__._._.

A percentage perhaps, now it's on/off
But off-course you can use TTDalter for those supersonic speeds

Excellent idea
