I have created already a few stripes, and i got some from others, but i can`t do all, for this project to prospare, i need your support, of corse if your interested

if some work gets done you can download the grf from this post or the Romtrain wiki

They look quite a lot like the Swedish Rc1-6 (last four but one in the first line of my sig below). Perhaps you can do a repaint job, starting on this? My graphics are free to use, as long as some credit is given.

fedora8.. Hmm.. I guess that it has kwrite, right? And that I know that I've gotten nforenum and grfcodec very nicely to work with Linux :) Especially as there is grfcodec linux binary provided..

And if you don't like wine, you can compile the renum..

And for locations, google them

Unfortunately I cannot open that file. Gimp tells me that it is an invalid PCX file.

That said, I think Purno's drawing tutorial is usually referenced as a good source to start looking at when you want to make sprites: http://www.users.tt-forums.net/purno/PDT/

Nice! It let's me look forward to more :) and hope to see some progress here in the time to come.

As I'm on my eternal quest for licenses for all stuff: try to come up with a proper license right from the start. Maybe look at http://creativecommons.org/about/license/ and choose one. If unsure, pick BY-NC-ND - it allows other people only to hand it to their friends, too.

The second set of four views seems to be the same as the first set. Remember that there are eight different views. Look at the pantographs on my Rc1 (which seems to be the origin of your sprites). This may also explain why you turned off the lights :-)

You have made the wheel part (lower 2 lines) very dark. It might be better to leave realism aside, and mix with some lighter grays there to simulate some detail. In your picture above of 41-01-2, it definitely looks like some round tanks in lighter gray in the middle.

The snow plows are separate (one on each side) on Rc but, judging from your picture, yours should have no gaps in the diagonal views.

The sixth image also has a double bottom line.

If it is indeed the Rc1 which is the origin, please remember that it was the first train I drew, it is not very good shading-wise, all the sides of the engine have more or less the same color, irrespective of which side is turned to the sun. It looks better if the lighted side (right) is a lighter nuance, and the shaded side(s) darker, makes the edges more obvious. But I hadn't learned that at the time...

Some people will suggest 'randomizing' the color of big, uniformly colored surfaces, i.e. mixing pixels with slightly different colors to make a more textured surface. I find that very difficult, so my trains are mostly 'flat-colored'. You have been warned :-)

There are two Romanian locos in Serbian Rail Set. Feel free to use them (and of course, properly credit me):

AFAIR, the Romanian class E40 is based on ASEA´s Rb class (from 1962, prototype of Rc, later Rc1). The E40s for CFR (10 units) were already delivered in 1965, but the (later) Rc1 was only built from 1967.

The majority of CFRs classes 40, 41, 42 (and modernised 45) were built in license by Electroputere.

Michael
