loader cannot find GAMEGFX.exe

I just downloaded TTD and installed the ttdpatch. When I activate the patch, error comes up 'cannot find GAMEGFX.exe and American.exe. Help please, what do I do to rectify this error.

Did you download the DOS or Windows version of TTD?
Did you download the DOS or Windows version of TTDPatch?
Did you put TTDPatch in the same folder where you unzipped and/or installed TTD?

I downloaded for Windows as I run XP. I was able to retrieve both gamecfx.exe ans american files. Now when I initialize the program I receive the error msg. This version of program has known addresses. TD is not installed properly (registry error 2). I have the patch in the same folder as the other files. No, I didn't RTFF.

Try to run ttdpatch.exe in Your TTD main directory
