North American Road Vehicles Set - In Development

Given the advances in coding for earlier years and for articulated vehicles, I believe the time has come for a North American road vehicles set. Zephyris has graciously agreed to code for this, so some progress can definitely be made.
I've drawn several buses so a smaller scale than standard to fit in with the North Americna Renewal Set and the Canadian and US tran sets. I'll post in-progress images soon, but for now, the plan is to include North American style road vehicles from horse wagons up to future semi trucks.
I've got the majority of the buses actually drawn, and trucks are a WIP.
Basic overview of what I've got in mind.
Buses:
Several buses, early buses are generic (not separated into coach and urban), several urban transit buses as well as highway coaches (including the GMC Scenicruiser

) - also a stagecoach and later an omnibus
Trucks:
Semi trucks, standard trucks as well as trucks with pup trailers for all cargoes, ranging from model T's to futuristic semis
Horse Wagons
Horse wagons, available from 1800
Streetcars:
From a horse drawn streetcar in 1830 to future articulated trams
Will post a tracking table soon, as well as current in-progress graphics.

Cool!
There are some grf made already. There was some buses, Mctrucks and Navistar. Authors are You and George. Maybe You can use some of those sprites too!

These three are separate grfs and only new RV-s what I use.

I'll happily contribute to this set, and definitely want to make sure that the Heavy Equipment set fits with it scale-wise.
Good times for RVs.
cheers,
Andy

Not so good for Articulated Road Vehicles though, or the developers trying to fix them...
[Edit] I suggest that if you are going to make use of the engine pool that you use the extra ids for the very early stuff so it can be skipped (using a jump based off OpenTTD / TTDpatch) when loaded with TTDpatch, allowing you to use the full range from 1920 but still support the pre1920 stuff you want to in OpenTTD.

Well, we need to figure out a happy medium re: the ARV's because both OTTD and TTD deal with them so differently. I hadn't thought about engine pool TBH.
Is it possible to set the ARV code in TTDP like that in OTTD with the hard-coded limits? Would that make things any easier?

Supposedly the grf code should be the same between the two.

Hard coded is the default (ie. the articulation callback), manual articulation is possible in TTDpatch and is there for testing purposes,as I remember.

OK, gotcha, so the manual addition is due to be removed at some point once ARV's are completely bugfree in TTDP?
I thought you had A LOT of the issues fixed?

Are the names and vehicles in this set all going to be based on real-life, or are some of them generic and 'inspired by'?
Just asking as I am thinking about names for the Heavy Equipment set.

I was thinking actual names. Attached are the buses, just to give an idea of scale.

Here is a basic WIP for a semi truck. It's done to be at about the same scale as TTD trains. Zephyris, feel like coding it as a test?

Hello! I always feel like coding a test! See attached... This GRF is designed for the OpenTTD method of buying articulated vehicles - ie. not adding the trailer yourself - although the trailer is also available separately for testing purposes. Both the articulated vehicle and trailer are available from 1920. A known bug in OpenTTD is the inability to refit articulated road vehicles where the front vehicle has a capacity of zero, hopefully this is getting changed though. (and on a side note, thanks for drawing the sprites with the standard offsets, it makes coding so much easier!)

NARVS + HEVS: this is a photoshop comp to see if they scale looks right between the 2 sets. I think it's fine. Opinions?

(In case anyone tries it you can't use both test grfs in the same game, they use the same sprite IDs - this is not a problem, they are test grfs only).

I think the scale looks good, these should work well together.

Just so you know, Manual Articulation in TTDpatch isn't the standard way of doing things, using the articulation callback is (in which case I fail to see how thats any different from OpenTTD)?
Also returning 0 or any value should now work without leading to a crash or invalid cargo values being returned (r1930).

Cool idea, like the concept. I'd like to suggest the use of steam trams somewhere in there, like maybe circa 1860-1900. Just a thought.
