Minor forums reorganisation

Would anyone object to me reorganising the forums structure a bit, like so:

The main changes are removing the now-superfluous "TTDPatch", "OpenTTD", "Transport Empire", etc, from forum names (now that we have the navbar, there will hopefully not be too much of an issue with people getting confused over which section they're posting in), as well as introducing a Forum Games forum (if that is agreed upon in the other thread), and moving some of the archived forums down to their own section at the bottom of the page.
Comments?

I would have to see how OT looked without all the games, it would probably be empty.

But removing the superfluous headings seems like a good idea, I remember being confused once or twice about graphics forums and such in the past but it hasn't happened since the upgrade (even though I randomly alternate between using subBlue and the TT theme for some reason).
Edit: And the archived posts is definitely best at the bottom, seeing as noone can write in it anyway, and it hasn't been updated for years.

Looks good, however a tiny question:

Why wasn't there a development sub-forum in the TTDPatch section?

Removing the "now-superfluous" as you say will get me confused no doubt, since I only check the forums by the "view new posts" button.
As you can see in the attachment, removing "TTDpatch", "OpenTTD" or "Locomation" from f.i. the problems forum, will give me three forums with the same name, or am I doing something wrong here ?

There was never really any need for one, I guess. TTDPatch development is performed by a relatively small group of programmers, whereas OpenTTD has lots more user-contributed patches.

Hmm, I guess that's a possible problem, I'm not sure if that can be resolved easily. You could always mouse-over the forum link and compare the forum IDs.

Oh boy.
If it were possible to give each forum a different text colour that would be much user friendlier, at least on subsilver that is.

Shouldn't Beginners go together a tad bit with Tutorials?

why not move Screenshots into the save games and scenarios forum or something like the TT Section with a sub forum for each.

I have no plans to change what the forums actually ARE - i.e., I'm performing some minor reorganisation of the forum structure, but not the actual forum contents.

What do you mean by that? Screenshots already has its own subforum.

Illegal Alien suggested Screenshots to go together with General Discussions under Locomotion. Suppose that's what he meant

Hmm, well, I'm not sure "Screenshots" is necessarily required in the General Discussion forum for Locomotion - there's a thread for it, and the entire forum isn't for screenshots as it were. The TTD forum (when Screenshots used to be there) never had "Screenshots" in its name.

Do you also intent to make them as subforums? Like this:
http://forum.microchip.com/
Or keep it the way it is now, but just renaming/moving?

Everything will be kept as it is, just renamed/reordered. If the Forum Games forum is created, it'll be a subforum.

Owen, can't you change the forum order to most popular to least popular too?
Re: Minor forums reorganisation

by orudge
Meaning what exactly? If I were to reorganise the categories based upon number of posts, it'd go:
- General
- OpenTTD
- TTDPatch
- Transport Tycoon
- Chris Sawyer's Locomotion
- Transport Empire
- Other Projects and Games
If I were to reorganise the Read These First and Administrators and Moderators categories too, the latter would be above Other Projects and Games, and Read These First would be at the bottom.
What we could do is put Locomotion below OpenTTD, perhaps.

Greasemonkey is your friend, Hyronymus. As far as I can tell, there is neither a Locomotion section nor an Off Topic forum here.
