Using PBS can allow you to get the crossing gates to close earlier, thus protecting your precious road vehicles.

like railway signals, they direct traffic and tell traffic when they are allowed to go. a traffic consists of 3 colours and as the same green means go, red means stop and yellow mean prepare to stop if you can do it safely and the lights are changing to red. this is all based on the new zealand traffic light system. i do relise it different in ohter countries

That's an OpenTTD patch, which is not much use to TTDPatch players. ;-)

Permission from a moderator to kill the patronising newbie!? DENIED!? *sigh*

I'm fully aware of what a traffic light looks like, but it's not like you made it very clear. Road Vehicles don't have traffic lights, roads do.

This has been discussed a few times - mostly we came to the conclusion that there's not enough traffic to need traffic lights.

Will "improve the speed vehicles travel"?
Far from that.
Please check relevant patch for OpenTTD (Zephyris thanks for the link  ) and tell us if I am wrong.

Chris Sawyer even tryed it in Locoomotion and removed it while it was in early development. Cant remember where he said it but he said it on an interview, I think it might have been gamespot.
