Had a trainsurfer yesterday on my train.
Wanted to leave Krommenie-Assendelft station in the direction of Uitgeest.
I had 2 Sprinters and saw in my mirror that he jumped on the stairs of the last Cabine.
I immidiately stopped, he jumped and ran aways.
The idiot was on the side where the oncomming trains would pass.
With 120 km/h, he might be blown from the train.
No tears for such guys, only a nice day off for me if it went wrong.

You should have called police or something get a picture of those punks then shout at them yourself

here in brazil trains are so old and slow that punks give up: they run faster than the train

A perfectly reasonable take in such circumstances however.

Some people in this country are outraged that we can't just keep the trains running after someone is crushed on the line...
It's a very selfish way to die sadly.

...but how do you decide who jumped and who was pushed?

If it were the case, the entire tube would have automatic screen doors. The doors on the Jubilee Line help to keep the platforms cool more than anything (cold air sinks down onto the tracks and is lost in the tunnels otherwise).

It's like level crossings. Platforms are safe to use if used properly. Just like bridges. But if a man wants to jump off it, you'd have to put in A LOT of fencing to prevent it.

On a more related note, neighbouring Malaysia currently and has had since the mid nighties electric suburban trains with sliding plug doors (the oldest of which look suspicious like 323s (link) (compare). Compare that with London who until 2004 had doors that anyone could open in the middle of a journey. They're also A LOT more comfortable (link). For a perceived "poor" country it puts 153311 to shame.

It's not as if we didn't have problems with train surfers in this country: the class 376 (link) was built with a flat front end with no steps so train surfers couldn't ride along. Likewise, they had to remove the handles by the door of the London Underground D stock as people were grabbing onto them as the trains left.

Did you ever travel on an old slammer in the last 10 years of their service? If you did then you'd know that they had central door locking.

Sadly I didn't travel on them - the few chances I had to travel on NSE and they were all 455s

I'd read a few stories on the Disabled Railcard website about how rail travel has got much better that that blind people can use the trains without fear of stepping onto anything other than the platform.

They did? Unless i caught all the trains which didn't have the locking on since i could open the doors before the train stopped near the end of the slam door stock (well the South Eastern Ones)

Yup. It was released just before arrival. It's how they lasted so damn long. The old leaping out as it is coming to a halt was very useful.
