Cinci is a young town. A comprehensive light rail network has let it grow to its current size of sixty-five thousand.

A commuter heavy rail ring has just been built, but has proven incapable of keeping up with demand due to its single-platform stations. Land for the second, larger ring is being purchased.

Twin tram bridges connect the new western suburbs with the city.

The ring of commuter rail separates the northern outskirts of the town from the wilderness.

Major excavations are underway to the North in preparation for the second heavy rail ring.

In the meantime, new neighbourhoods develop on fresh landfill to the South.

Constructions burgeons in the southwest as foundations are laid down and suburban stores come up.

Freshly gleaming skyscrapers greet the virgin rails of the second ring.

The city has exploded into the frontiers. Its skyscrapers acclaim hope and optimism.

And, indeed, greater and greater density manifests to the south.

New bridges rise in the sparser East.

Developers applaud landfill still further South.

Houses ascend the hilly terrain to the West.

But there expansion shuddered to a halt. The greatest minds of the generation pondered and pondered and attributed the stop to the rings of heavy rail splitting neighbourhoods in two and destroying pedestrian culture.

The inner ring was especially at fault, as not only did it fail to satisfy passenger demand, but it also interfered with the inner city light rail system. So it was torn down.

Two tram bridges are the only reminder that it ever existed.

Infill is successful, but overall growth is still paltry.

But, at long last, development has spread to the east side of the new heavy rail ring.

Though, in the North, it has barely passed the limits of the old, long-demolished inner ring.

Years have passed, but the southern suburb of Boxborough remains true to its name. Two new big box stores are going up.

70 Series (Dortmunt) from Hiroshima Trams is the only vehicle that can consistently satisfy inner city demand. Its three articulated sections carrying 150 passengers for a total of 450 passengers per tram are not entirely realistic, but I just think of it as representing several different trams abstracted to a single one on the scale of the city.

Any other tram results in thousands of people waiting in vain at each stop.

Also, to my mind, the stops represent route endpoints rather than individual stops, so the abstraction fits.

Without PBS, there's no real way I know of to do a commuter heavy rail network of width 2. Of course, they aren't a particularly useful construct even when they work. I build these networks to break the monotony of trams alone.

Cinci's population is currently at 141,554.
