I've never heard of an EFW file before, so I googled it and found this:

http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/18/t883723-an-efw-file/

Try following the advice given there. Beyond that I don't know.

The pages I PM'd to him as I happened top have them handy when he asked

Infra Landscape = http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... &sk=t&sd=a
British Town Names = http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... &sk=t&sd=a

I just check each of these and they saved properly as .zip which extracted the files properly as .grf

Unfortunately these are two of the many files not listed in GRFCrawler, in case you are following this discussion 8)

http://filext.com/file-extension/EFW
so it's ZIP file, or EXE ZIP file.

AHA! :D (SHADOW-XIII just beat me to it by a few seconds)
Its a "make you think twice" file extension.
Some security programs (such as CA) will rename an attached .zip extension to .efw as these files enter the protected computer.
Some compression applications will actually open them.
However, all you need to do is change the efw to zip and then unzip it. The files inside the zip are the ones that you need.

What application are you using to open your zip files? If you're not sure, just double click on the zip file and tell us what you see.

I recommend Total Commander (Ultima Prime). Doesn't care about the extension. 8)
