Countdown - They're Here!
0 days and counting until the "keys are exchanged" to:
CrossCountry
East Midlands Trains
London Midland and
London Overground
Only CrossCounty and East Midlands directly affect me being the Stansted to Birmingham and Norwich to Liverpool lines respectively.
It is interesting, according to the EMT wiki page the Norwich to Liverpool route is put down as East Midlands Mainline and the trains put down as running on the East Midlands Mainline are the HST's and the Meridians

Re: Countdown
We're stuck with 158s Griff. They will be exclusively 158s as well on the Liverpool to Norwich.
Re: Countdown
Don't forget the East Coast too! And the start of London Overground.
Re: Countdown
East Coast does not start until the 9th December but your right about London Overground.

Re: Countdown
Ah, well I hope to be there on the first day of the Overground anyway! Super Sunday should be interesting.
Re: Countdown
I can't wait to sample the new wares of our friends from London. London Midland my arse.

Re: Countdown
This is great. At the weekend I travel to Nottingham by Midland Mainline, and return with East Midland Trains. I expect to see a a huge difference.
That said, I have been suitably impressed with my recent experiences of South West Trains.

Re: Countdown
Yup, there'll be a whole new fleet of trains, a brand new timetable and line upgrades over a week. Nothing will change until the timetable change.

Re: Countdown
I have to say I'm looking forward more to the opening of St Pancras International. It'll be nice to have some more shops etc to look round whilst I wait for my train there.

Re: Countdown
The best shops will probably be beyond the check in and security. 'Railside' if you will!

They are missing a trick there then. I remember Brussels having a particularly good chocolate shop beyond the check-in!

Re: Countdown
Did anyone else see the webcast of the opening? I thought it was quite impressive.
