Hello!
I'm a new forum user. I'played TT since it's was released may years ago.
Now i have discovered again it's wonderful gameplay. I want to use new GRFs so i downloaded Pikka's industries and some other new GRFs.

1. I use OTTD and when i try to load Pikka's GRF OTTD give me the following message: "newcargos and newindustries switch must be turned on" near a blue square and a danger triangle.
What it means?

2. I downloaded many GRFsbut i've noticed that some are in contrast WITH!!!!! some other. Can someone give me a list of GRF regardings towns, trains, trucks and ships which i can merge whitout conflict. I know that the sequence of loading is important too... if you can post the setting of yours GRFs i'll be grate!

3. I tried to use "newfactory fo TTD" GRF but i tells me that is projected to be used WITH!!!!! "newindustries on". How can i solve?

Thank you.

Sorry for my elementary english (i'm italian)

Hello and welcome to the TT forums and OpenTTD world :D

First have a look at the openttd wiki: http://wiki.openttd.org for any beginner doubts and newgrf questions!

Second, openttd 0.5.3 doesn't support new industries and new cargo's, but the trunk ( development version of openttd ) is being worked on to support it.. We may see it in version 0.6 when it's released..

This is a list of working NewGRF Sets that are compatible with OpenTTD.
http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/GRF_list

This list is not complete, but what is listed there, will definately work with OpenTTD.
some will say "only in nightly builds" though.

If you need to know what the nightlies are, i posted that only short time ago, just a sec...

here:
Roujin wrote:Well, since OpenTTD is a Open Source project, every day the developers make some little changes/improvements to the code, and upload them to the trunk. The trunk is a place somewhere on the internet where you can download the source code of OpenTTD.

But since many casual players can't do anything useful with the source code (it's just a whole bunch of programming gibberish and you have to "compile" that first, before it becomes a playable OpenTTD Program), every night (hence it's called "nightly"), some people take the source code (with the newest daily changes) and compile it into a running program for all kinds of different systems (windows, linux,...).

So that everyone, even the people who cannot or don't want to compile it themselves, can test the newest changes made by the developers.

Pros for the developers are that they get a lot of free testers. If something is wrong, someone will report it to them and they can fix it.
Pros for us players are that we get a lot of nice new features, without having to wait for a looooooong time, when the developers will release the next normal ("stable") version.

It's like a inbetween version between the last official version and the next one to be released. Kinda like a beta test for a new game not yet released - you can test it, but there is no guarantee that it works without errors.

But actually the nightlies of OpenTTD are in my opinion very error-free. I always use them because of the nice new features, and nearly never have any problems.

everything clear?
