Re: Speed Test
Huh, I've been to Keflavik and it doesn't really seem like the sort of place to have a huge speedtest server!Class 165 wrote:The thing that I found funny about mine was that connecting to a server in New York of Keflavik, Iceland gave me higher speeds than my local one situated 20 mile away at Maidenhead!
That said, everybody's supposed to be moving their servers to Iceland to cut on cooling costs.

Re: Speed Test
It'll be measuring the distance from your ISP's servers (which may be a fairly significant away from your exchange), and as such isn't really going to be very accurate.Ameecher wrote:Still don't get the whole London being less than 50miles away. It's 100 to the M25!
Re: Speed Test
Which are in Colchester which is probably around 50miles away from London. That'd explain it then.

Re: Speed Test
The problem with speedtest is that as the connections get faster, it's less accurate, as the downloads happen so quickly. I got some similar results at St Andrews - but then, on a university network, you'd expect such speeds!

Hm, fast enough?
@Owen: You should see the dutch www.speedtest.nl
It's a 100 kB test for download and upload, so I sometimes get 80 mB/s down

Re: Speed Test
Huh, my laptop actually seems to be faster than my desktop. Strange, as they're both on the same wifi and the desktop gets a much better signal.
UK internet still sucks if you're any further than half a kilometre from the exchange, though. I'm about as far as you can get from ours.
