Will there come an airport for ttd patch any time soon with two runways?

Unfortunately not. I believe there is something that has been put into the patch that would allow coding of airport pieces in different formations, but whether this would allow what you want is unknown anyway. Its a lot of code to be written and developers are busy with other bits and pieces.

It would require far too much coding; from what I've understood from such discussions, the management of planes in the airport (so that they don't crash on the tarmac) is hard-coded into TT.

Everything that the patch changes is hard-coded into TTD, that's not a reason why it can't be done.

If and when newairports for TTD becomes a reality, chances are it will be newgrf controlled. But I don't think there's been much work on it lately.

In some games, I build two airports side by side and outside of the town.
One airport is for arrivals (airplanes unload, trains/trams/buses load), the other for departures (airplanes load, trains/trams/buses unload) with trains/trams/buses connecting the airport to the town.
The most unrealistic part is the airplane must fly from the arrival terminal to the departure terminal.
What are the coding challenges to allow the building of a taxiway between the two airports, perhaps something similar to the airplane taxiing to the hangar?
With this, to get a second runway, one would merely build a second terminal (airport) and join the two with a short bit of taxiway.

Huh? :?
My original unedited statement was quite clear. The implication is that the airplane must fly between the terminals instead of taxiing.

Actually, i think that's a very good suggestion, and probably easier to code than dual runways.

Airports which people can build up in stages (seperate taxiways, runways and terminals), which is essentially what this is, would be vastly more difficult to code than new fixed-layout airports defined by grf or patch code.

it's a play on words, seeing as you normally depart from the departure terminal and vice versa.

I think an 'at' would have provided some clarity, Henry.
