Where is the "Newindustries Switch"
Posted: 03 Jul 2007 11:13

I hope someone can assist me. Most of my grfs keep asking for a "newindustries switch" which I have searched for but cannot get. I get a zipped file with three industries, Water, Power and New Factory.
Using nightly r10406. Even with the latest stable OTTD I have failed to enable these grfs.
See screenshot below.

As you were told in the other topic that you posted this problem. No there isn't. Yet.

OK. I cannot remember the other thread. Is there a way I can recollect all the threads I have reponded to?
So, honestly, what's the point of having these grfs thenif they cannot be used?

This post perhaps?
If you want to see all the threads that you have posted in, go to the index and in the top right corner is a link that says "View your posts"

There is something called TTDPatch.

Newindustries is a system developped a long time ago by Csaboka for TTDPatch. Since its release, a few newindustries grf have been done for it. But since recently, they are only usefull for TTDPatch. I am currently putting the final touch to the implementation of the specs in OpenTTD. IT is not yet finished, nor deliverable. I hope i could get it done somewhere around fall. Until then, you will have to wait before using it. Or , of course, use TTDPatch if you cannot wait until then
An annoucement will be made public when it will be incorporated in trunk ( and of course the nightlies)

Surely the patch does not work with OpenTTD. Unless there is something I don't know.

Belugas what is Trunk?
I'm lost on that.

The patch is a program that PATCHES the original executable of Transport Tycoon Deluxe, giving him more capacities.
There is no way it can be applied to OpenTTD. OpenTTD implements its own code for doing newindustries. Right now, it is impossible to have newindustries in OpenTTD, no matter what yo try (except write support for the specs in the code of OpenTTD). The only other possibility is to have my own code.
Trunk is the code base that OpenTTD is based on. The nighlies are compiled from it every night

So if I run the latest nightly, will my problem be solved?
Ah, I forgot yesterday one nightie (hahaha) gave me a problem. None of my train driver wanted to move. I had to remove the nightie. It was my first time to use it.

No, nightlies will not solve your problem, since newindustries of OpenTTD is not yet in trunk, thus not in nightlies either.
That's what i've explained a few post above.
I'm still working on it. Although a pretty good amunt of code is already in trunk/nightlies, the feature is not available to anyone but me.
And I will make it avaialbe ONLY when I feel it is ready. Maybe it will not be fully finished, but at least, the main components will work as expected.

To Belugas -> When do you think newindutries will be in the trunk approximatively (1 day, 1 week, 1 month etc...) ?

"You people" should really learn to read before posting.
I have no idea how and why Belugas is answering the same question 100 times.
Anything related to OTTD development is released "WHEN IT'S DONE".

*de-lurk*
Not that I'm trying to beat a dead horse around any, but I noticed some unusual entries in the changelog for the nightlies, something about tourists and a bugfix on RV stations for them as well (the game is on my laptop, which is at the other end of my house, I'm on dialup, and the changelog on the website doesn't go back far enough). Was I imagining things or did one of the devs incorporate support for George's ECS Town vector? Just curious is all, and sorry in advance if more people start asking when OpenTTD will support newindustries.

Well, from what I saw in the changelogs, etc ... I think it surely won't be 1 day or 1 week. Probably not even 1 month. We'll see....

Only if "no longer crash when ECS is loaded" counts as "support".

do you, ever, in any way, understood that "The Patch" has nothing to do with OTTD? it's a
patched variation on the
standard install of
Transport Tycoon Deluxe. it requires the
standard install of
Transport Tycoon Deluxe and the
TTDpatch files which can be found
here.
and, did you notice that, beside the OTTD sections, there is also a
Transport Tycoon Deluxe Patch section? apparently not. good luck.
