Rounding it all up

Hello all. I am new to all this.
I used to play the original TTO all the time with my cousin, he has been trying to get to play the original for ages.

We managed to get dosbox working with the original, but no sound. And "chippy" is called "jinty".. and its generally not like we remember through dosbox. No sound is a big downer.

Anways. after hours of searching, I wanted to try out TTD (with patch) and openTTD. I still don't like this version as much as the original, the candy land... everything just seems different. Especially the music (don't like the midi version at all).

SO - I ended up stumbling across this topic, and I have no clue at all what is going on. I can see that you have managed to change grf files to look like the original game... but where do I put these?
Also, I downloaded everything from this topic, but its all in bits and bobs... I may be missing something.

Could someone please post a "round up so far" of this topic, newbies stumbling on here (like me) may find it hard to get all this running from just one post.

I would really appreciate it.

I have these problems with this -

1) I have no idea where to put the GRF files... or any of the files to be exact.

2) The music, this is very important to me. I have the dxmci12 thing, and ALL the mp3 files... but even replacing them and renaming them does nothing for me - all I get is no music what-so-ever.

Im such an idiot at this - its just not sinking in. Any advice, is greatly welcomed! I really would love to get this working, everything looks flipping sweet!

That's OK, it can happen to all of us. I don't think we'll merge the topics though. I suggest you just continue where you intended to continue :).

phpBB2 doesn't support merging topics, so stop thinking about something which is impossible anyways.
