OpenTTD 0.5.1-RC2

Even though we would have liked to release 0.5.1, there was a serious bug in 0.5.1-RC1 that meant it didn't get the testing it needed to make this 0.5.1. We hope to release 0.5.1 pretty soon though.

As the installation of the Microsft Unicode layer for Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME proved to be difficult, there is now a special win9x build for those platforms. Users of Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista should use the win32 binary.

Downloads over at http://www.openttd.org/downloads.php Please be patient while SF distributes the files and we compile more binaries.

Translations
Due to the fact that some changes required changes of the strings, quite a few languages have missing strings in 0.5.1-RC2. We ask the translators to fix them as soon as possible via our WebTranslator.
The languages that have missing strings are: Brazilian Portuguse, Estonian, Finnish, Galician, Icelandic, Lithuanian, Norwegian (Bokmal and Nynorsk), Romanian, Slovenian and Turkish.

Changes since RC1:
  • Fix: crashes when the chatbox would be drawn outside of the main window [FS#701] (r9420)
Bugs that were introduced after 0.5.0:
  • Fix: reading out of an array caused a segmentation fault [FS#694] (r9394)

Wow! That was fast. I will install it right away. :)

Good work!

EDIT: Does the other thread needs to be closed? (Like Darkvater did with the 0.5.0 release candidates? :)

Either the florbish is grommicking or the grommick is florbishing. But I'm not quite sure which. Something that vaguely resembles a bug report might be useful here.

^A sure candidate for the "best post of 2007" awards^

I haven't bothered to install mainstream yet, as I use MiniIN, but now I will use both ;)

You're running Open under wine ... why? There should be at least one perfectly good native Linux package.

well, i dont compile things myself (or only if i need it). Im using the portage tree of gentoo, but now i found it in the portage tree ;-), but only 0.5.0.
I got 2 Errors when i tried to start it:
Error: Cannot open file '/usr/share/games/openttd/data/sample.cat'

Error: Cannot open file '/usr/share/games/openttd/data/TRG1R.GRF'

I copied them from my wine installation and now it works ;-)

I've made that image a link. Please don't post large images which break the tables.
