Is there any kind of ranking of graphics you use?

Discuss, get help with, or post new graphics for TTDPatch and OpenTTD, using the NewGRF system, here. Graphics for plain TTD also acceptable here.

Is there any kind of ranking of graphics you use?

I would like to give a new look to my TT, improving its graphics, as I always use the original ones. But I don´t know where to start, I like the appareance of many of the images you post, at the scenarios or saved games threads, but I don´t know the name of the sets you use, or where to find them.

Can you please tell me if there´s a index thread for graphics, or a kind of ranking, or something similar?

Or, please, just tell me which graphic sets you prefer, and why. I think this could be useful for all the newbies.

There is off course the grfcrawler, but I guess not all of those TTDpatch graphics do work in OTTD.

Thanx for the link, I think it´s great.

But how do you know if the graphics are going to work with Open TTD or not?

Trial and error usually...

* Industries and houses won't work.
* Vehicles should all work, if not make a full bug report (on http://bugs.openttd.org/)
* Anything else is luck...
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.

Most of the vehicles at GRFcrawler should work in one fashion or another in the latest nightly. They might not be working exactly like they do in TTDpatch, but they should be workable.

If you want a good start, look for the UKRS trainset. It works perfectly in the latest nightly, and also works in 0.4.8 (though without it's extra sounds).

All of the planesets I tried worked perfectly in the latest nightly, though they are obviously also made with the planespeed multiplier thingy in mind... which doesn't exist in openTTD (so some planes are painfully slow and expensive... which is a shame.). And someone got the bright idea of grouping the planes into "Propeller, Jets, Helicopter" instead of "Small, Large, Helicopter" so you see jets that is under the propeller category. :s (Large is aircraft that would crash often on small/commuter airports... and that's about it).

You forgot Stations!

NewGRF stations work fine (in the nightlies or MiniIN).

I tried to install the nightly, I think (folder-> OTTD-win32-nightly-r7134), and it runs ok, but when I try to build a vehicle, it gives me the following alert:

Tried to load non-existing sprite #5991 (for buses and trucks, 5992 for airplanes, etc)
Probable cause: Wrong/missing NewGRFs

And that happens when I start a new game, and a new scenario as well.

What did I made wrong? I just unzipped as it came, and I didn´t install anything else. Maybe not the latest version? Do I have to paste some files in the data folder?
