Convert whole line at once
Converting a single line from non-electrified to electrified is a lot of work. Wouldn't it be useful to be able to convert a whole line (= a complete set of connected track) at once? I don't know a thing about coding, but possibly TTD already knows if I click one piece of track which other parts of track on the map are connected to this one. Or if it doesn't, it could work its way out from a single piece of track I click.
Read the manual about cheats.

What you want is:
cht: tracks 1 0
Hope this helps.

Well that converts all tracks at once.
It would be neat if you could convert only those tracks that are actually connected to each other. This way you could manually convert the tracks easily, even just a part of a huge network if you delete a few pieces of track that connect to the parts you don't want to convert.

See, I wouldn't mind if it was implemented as we have auto-signals now - ie, it builds a signal every X tiles until it hits a junction/bridge/station etc. If we could replicate those conditions, ie it electrifis until it hits a station/bridge/junction etc, then it would be far easier than doing everything connected (simply because my networks area lways all connected
)

OTTD got a feature you can just drag and drop tiles to convert. Quite a good method IMO.

Well you can drag and drop diagonals now, so it sort of works in TTDP too. I figure MJS wants a one-click conversion, which is fair enough - especially if he has a large network.Purno wrote:OTTD got a feature you can just drag and drop tiles to convert. Quite a good method IMO.

OTTD can drag a complete tile, meaning you can do a tile with an intersection with one drag. You don't have to build the railpiece in every direction ![Wink :wink:](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Drag and drop all tiles? Independant of the direction the track is layed on tiles?
Ok, if that's possible, I guess MJS's suggestion isn't worth the effort of coding, since the OTTD way is good enough, IMO.

That's why you convert tiles in once, most probablyPikkaBird wrote:In fact, it is impossible to have two different rail types on one tile.

I don't agree with Purno that it wouldn't be useful to have a one-click (or two-click) conversion, but it's true that dragging makes it easier. My main problem is that I tend to forget bits, and that causes jams easily. Or, that I get lazy and use the cheat that Dave mentioned above, which looks ugly on the freight lines with only diesels...
If you don't have too many diesel-only lines you could of course convert them back manually, which wouldn't give any problems if you forget a piece. ![Wink :wink:](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

That would probably be relatively easy to do. The problem with the original suggestions is figuring out what exactly constitutes as "line". However, making it work like autosignals would be feasible.Raichase wrote:See, I wouldn't mind if it was implemented as we have auto-signals now - ie, it builds a signal every X tiles until it hits a junction/bridge/station etc. If we could replicate those conditions, ie it electrifis until it hits a station/bridge/junction etc, then it would be far easier than doing everything connected (simply because my networks area lways all connected)
