Narrow Gauge Bridge Support

Several sets now feature narrow gauge tracks.
Some future sets will be offering them as well.
Unfortunately, other than the ttdx original bridges, the current bridges and bridge sets render extremely poorly with narrow gauge. See the images below.
Hopefully somebody will look into redrawing and/or recoding these most excellent offerings so that we may continue to use them.
Barring that, perhaps the time is right for another bridge set to be added to the mix, one that supports ALL track types.
I am neither artist nor coder, but I have an extensive selection of cookies for those who take on and complete the challenge.

Here are the viaduct sprites. If someone wants to replace the track with narrow gauge, and tell me the kuids of the narrow gauge sets (and whether it replaces monorail, maglev, or both in those sets), I'll happily update the viaduct for narrow gauge.

Pikka: I missed this in this evening's search. Is it of any help? Oh ... and you get a choice of chocolate chip or oreo for jumping in so quickly.
cornelius in the NG thread wrote:I think, although I can't totally remember, that I already asked Pikkabird if I could use his viaduct for NG.
The current .grf supports all the default bridges - if anyone needs sprites for new bridges doing I can help out, just PM me details since I don't check the forum that often at the moment.

IIRC, either my original bridge set by Szappy or Hyronymus's combined roadset (by Lakie, IIRC), is coded in a way additional tracks and road types can be included easily. Tho I'm not sure. I guess Szappy and/or Lakie can tell more about that.

Wallyweb, on a side topic, where do you get that OpenTTD style waypoint for TTDPatch please (assuming its TTDPatch your screenshot is)?

I just tested narrow gauge with the combined road set v.0.10 with parameters set as 2 1 and the stone bridge turned off and the results were the same as posted earlier in this thread.

I beleive it was posted on the TTDGraphics web site which is currently down.
Here is the grf file:

Thank you, I've always liked the look of that one.

He meant that it was coded to allow the coder to easily add a new railtype/roadset to the bridge once drawn.

AFAIR. It seems Lakie used Szappy's code without changing much. I guess you gotta contact either Lakie or Szappy.

Indeed, I left Szappy's code alone, since I do not understand bridge nfo code fully.
So you best ask Szappy.

I just read the NewRoutes description in the Wiki ... Correct me if I misunderstood it .... The sprites for each of the the new route types would be accepted by bridges that conform to NewRoutes, meaning that narrow gauge or any other type using types 4, 5, 6 or 7, would not affect bridge sprites.
If this is right, then the subject of this topic is moot and the question has been answered.
So ... Is this right?

Yes... except there are no newroutes compatible bridges yet, and I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if we see newroutes at all for at least six months.

Thanks Pikka. That's worth a couple of cookies. Take your pick.
Six months is not a long time in patch development.
Once newroutes is ready for primetime I'm sure any new bridge sets will accomodate it and hopefully existing sets will be recoded to fit in.
Knowing that something is on the horizon is good enough for me and this thread has come to satisfactory conclusion.
Thank you all.

Okay, although what I meant was that I'll be surprised if there's much progress on newroutes in six months, never mind a finished feature. I'm not aware that anyone is working on it at the moment.

Well, work load permitting, I
might look at doing some work on it, however, there has been some very minor things done, the switch and adding of the Landscape 8 array*. And yes, it is lightly not to be finished (or very far in development) in 6 months, but that isn't such a bad thing.
* - When there is some progress on the new map array, the chances are L8 will be replaced.
