Hey there.

What's up with the Chimaera and the Coelancanth(s)? Is this a bug or a feature? Will my computer explode if I try to use them?

I'm guessing that you've loaded the latest grf in a game started with an older version. Do a cht:resetvehicles.

Pikka, I just installed the latest versions of the UKRS, the UKRS Industries, the viaduct and the UKRS Addon Pack 1. The newest version of the patch is installed too. I get an error that the Addon Pack can't find the UKRS Main Set. Here's a sample from the grfdebug text...

# UK Renewal Train Set v3 Add-ons 1
newgrf/UKRSAP1W.GRF

# By DanMacK, Singaporekid and PikkaBird

Everything else looks great!

Thanks!

The Addon set should appear in newgrf.cfg after the original set.

So, you should change it to this in your configuration file, for example:
newgrf/pb_ukrs.grf
newgrf/ukrsap1w.grf

Hope that helps,

I wondered about that. I'm using the latest TTDx Configurator, but I'll
check the .cfg manually. Okay, I changed the order around in the Configurator and that fixed it.

Thanks!

Newgrf text not found

Post by Bento Boy »

Hi happy people playing TTDP!

I have always been a big fan of TTD and was astonished when I realised what had happened with the game while I wasn't watching. I have now tried for 6 hours to get UKRS industries working but I have still not succeeded.

The industries load, the tracks load, the stations load, everything loads into the game except some text. When I click an industries there is a lot of "gaba gaba" followed by "newgrf text not found" or something similar.

I have read every reply in this thread. I search and googled this forum, and yet I have failed.

I hate to ask people for help, who willingly reveals their weakness (??), but now I have to ask for help.

Please help me sort this out.

I run:
Windows XP, SP1
TTDP 2.9 beta 9
ttdpatch.cfg: Original (generated by exe)
GRFs:
newgrf/elrailsw.grf
newgrf/LongBusesw.grf
newgrf/McTrucksw.grf
newgrf/NavistarTrucksw.grf
newgrf/newbridgesW.GRF
newgrf/newshipsw.grf
newgrf/newstatsw.grf
newgrf/pb_ukrs.grf
newgrf/pb_ukrsi.grf
newgrf/pb_viaduct.grf
newgrf/planesetw_459.grf
newgrf/ScaniaTrucksw.grf
newgrf/signalsw.grf
newgrf/ukrsap1w.grf
newgrf/VolvoTrucksw.grf
newgrf/SpitzerTrucksw.grf

Thank you for assisting this failed character.
//Bento Boy

PS

Ahh, I tried it some more to test that my description was correct, it was not. In addition I get these errors:
Fuel depot crash (as describe earlier in this thread, do not have time to night to try to remedy it though)
Sometimes when starting new random game old industries are used.

[EDIT]
Clarification.

I'm sure you meant 2.5 beta 9

Couple of things you need to do.
First go to the patch website and find and download ttdpbasew.grf
Next, add this code to your newgrf configuration file.

Code: Select all

#Basic grf file MUST BE USED:#
#Sets canals;ccol2;elrails;gui;nsignals;oneway;tramtrk;trkfound#
#parameter fields: temperate arctic tropic toyland canals#
#climates: 0=default 1=temperate 2=arctic 3=tropic 4=toyland#
#canals: 0=new 1=original#
newgrf/ttdpbasew.grf 0 0 0 0 0
Note that you no longer need elrailsw.grf so you must remove it from your newgrf configuration file.
If after all that you are still having problems, post them to this thread and include your patch configuration file as an attachment.

Seems to be working

Post by Bento Boy »

It seems it's working now.
* Removed electrified railway grf
* Applied newcargos on
Turned out I had already downloaded ttdpbasew.grf just forgotten to add it.
* added ttdpbasew.grf

And, yes, it was 2.5 beta 9, and nothing else.

Thank you very much!!

Again, I am defeated. ;-)

And just a quick question:
I read somewhere that the UKRS was suppose to make sounds continuously; for me it doesn't. Was it only for OpenTTD, or have I still made some errors?

You need to check that the newsounds switch is on.

make sure you have
newsounds on
in your ttdpatch.cfg

The sounds are event based. Start up a train and listen as you follow it up a hill. This is juat one example.

UKRS steam trains can be heard continuously. Not so much with the diesel/electrics.

PikkaBird:

Which RV set do you recommend using with UKRSI?
HOVS would be the logical candidate but I am up to 1941 and the model Ts only accomodate mail and goods respectively.
I do see the original TTDX trucks but they only handle the original ttdx cargoes.
Clay, Gravel, Plastics and Fuel Oil are wanting of some reliable transportation to supplement that provided by trains.
I thought LV4 might do the trick but it's flag insists upon remaining in the red.
Do you have any suggestions? :)

In all fairness, it's on his LiveJournal page, if you click on HOVS you get to that page.

So I guess he doesn't mind :)
