Not able to show up new vehicle names
Hi,
I just downloaded the TTDpatch 2.5 beta 8 with Long Vehicles version 4 graphics. When i load old games i was able to see the vehicles with there appropriate names (e.g. Neoplan skyliner) but when I open a new game, no matter in which year i started the game, the vehicle names are all shown to be the original names (?of that ID) of the default names. E.g. a neoplan skyliner graphic would have the name of say 'Wizzowow Mail Truck'. How could i change the vehicles back to their appropriate names?
Thank you very much.

is it that big a time team dig?
I have Excactly the same problems as matthew here, I HAVE tried what you have suggested but it still comes up by custom, Even when i select deafault in the game options before I start the game

The occasional look back at your past can teach you a great many things...
I have the same problem with my new game! None of the vehicles are presented with their names - only TTDLX original names - which btw doesn't even fit the behicles in question.
I haven't reported it before though as I haven't been bothered by it! I mean, I know what vehicle I'm buying regardless of the name is "Toyish Toyish", but as others are reporting I might as well do the same!

I've seen this on the bug tracker too, but I can't reproduce it.
It may be due to a translation grf loaded after the vehicle set. Try putting the vehicle set at the bottom of your newgrfw.cfg, if that helps then it's another grf that's interfering with the names.
Otherwise, please post your newgrfw.cfg, ttdpatch.cfg as well as the size of your ttdloadw.ovl in bytes (should be one of 1695744, 1696256, 1699328, 1707008 or 1707520.

Well, I tried to put the LV4 both on top and at the bottom, but it made no difference! However, it made me realize that the German Tram set prevents LV4 from loading at all if put first!
Still, not related to the vehicles names though!
I've attached the files you requested below, and the size of the TTLOAD.OVL is 1 695 744 bytes!

Nope, using only LV4 and nothing else didn't make any difference at all!Patchman wrote:OK, I'm afraid I still can't reproduce the bug.
Can you try if it works if LV4 is the only file in your newgrfw.cfg?
Is this the issue - whatever it is?OzTransLtd wrote:Here's a hint ... look at the language IDs used; I had a similar problem with the CanSet with a language ID from graphics version 6, that would not want to work with graphics version 7.

I doubt it. The LangID bytes in LV4w.grf all look fine to NFORenum, and the ones I checked personally look fine to me too. (The ones I saw were: 7F, 07, FF, 80, 82, 83, 84, and 87)
OzTransLtd, I think you'll have to be more descriptive about that problem.

To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

i just solved my problem...
see if you have VEHICLE.DAT in your ttd folder, if yes, deleting it should do the trick (although you will lose your custom names instead of just having normal names as default)

I don't have a VEHICLE.dat in my folder, so that won't do it!
