Isn't the Brenner the most expensive Running Cost and Gas Price engine?? Why would you use that!! The farther they go the more expensive the gas.. I use the Diesel that has a base speed of 106mph.. I think that is the D7 or D9 or something like that.
TTDX Nothin better...Nuff said!!...Need any other entertainment visit http://furdude2.proboards43.com/index.cgi an see if anyone has any of this interests as well.

True, but it's the fastest everywhere - even on mountains.furdude6 wrote:Isn't the Brenner the most expensive Running Cost and Gas Price engine?? Why would you use that!! I like this Class 80 or something similiar.. Cheap Electric, Quick both flat land and hills Stephenson Rocket in RRT2 is nice!

I always liked using the 2-6-2 Prairie for short, local type runs. Only really came into good use once I got RT2:TSC with the storage options. Also good for that sort of thing are the 4-4-0 D16sb and the 2-6-0 Camelback; good cheap locomotives.
If electrification is affordable I ususally go with the GG1 and the Brenner if I can get them. GG1 is indestructible and Brenner climbs mountains like a goat.
I'm not big on the 4-6-2 Pacific; not good in the mountains I like to play in, and not reliable enough for me. I usually substitute 2-8-2 Mikados or GG1s. But it does have its uses.

Re: favourite loco
I was just playing a RRT3 campaign game (the Orient Express scenairo) and chose "invest in science and technology" at the game start. When it gave me a choice between increased speed and increased pulling power, I picked speed. Wow! The 2-8-0 Consolidation now runs 75 mph! The Sterling runs up in the 90s, but it "won't pull a settin' hen off the nest." So the upgraded Consol is now my fav in RRT3.

Re: favourite loco
Is the Whale loco in RRT3(Orca N4X or something like that)based on a real locomotive?

Re: favourite loco
New favorite - the Norfolk & Western 4-8-0 Mastodon (available on the custom content page at Hawk & Badger (hawkdog.com)
Expensive, but worth it. Fills in the gap where the 2-8-2 Mikado should go in the game.
