Servicing and Break downs

i ve playing TTO when i was 8 and now i got bored and decided to finish the game (i 'm 17 now  )
I downloaded TTD, ok it runs fine.
The problem i have is that trains and vehicles do not go for service unless i order them manually, its so boring and repetitive to this task every now and then, because otherwise they will breakdown every 5 secs.

thanks in advance!

the servicing interval is set to 16 000 days and does not change

Assuming you're running TTDPatch, try setting servint to off in your ttdpatch.cfg.

http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... ceInterval

(as an aside, is this switch on by default in TTDP? We seem to get a lot of questions about it; I think it should be off...)

Wasn't it set as default under the assumption that most people liked to have breakdowns set to off anyway? Since it also allows persistentengines that would otherwise have a reliability of ... like... minus 275 million%??

thanks anyway,
i switched to openTTD, much better, thanks to the guys who designed it
i ll try locomotion too, and see which one is better and reach 2050,

personal goal: reach 2050 in OpenTTD or locomotion before acutal 2050 comes

i ll also have to try and biuld complex train routes, till now i only biuld one to one routes...

Another possible patch user lost to OTTD because of a lack of willingness to edit the .cfg?

Hmmm...

Actually, if you think about it, I belive OTTD is just a bit more userfriendly when it comes to that point.

Hmmm...
what do u mean lost? Open TTD is much better, those fixes make the game more clear and relaxing to play

OTTD = no realistic acceleration & no freight trains = sucks like hell.

OpenTTD is good for people who don't mind losing the sweet tradition that TTD offered.

OTTD is fast moving away from TTD - and good luck to them, but I don't think - contradicting myself a little - that you can compare TTD(P) and OTTD anymore. OTTD is a little TOO different.

realistic acceleration can be turned on i think, freight trains? what do u mean

also if u say OTTD cant be compared to TTD because its 2 different things, then about Locomotion would u say its a different gerne? like FPS?

ps. i tried locomotion, sux :(

Realistic Acceleration isn't part of the trunk, is it? And Mr Uzurpator refers to the freighttrains setting where you can simulate a heavy train to make loco selection far more useful.

Maybe I'd play OTTD for ease of gameplay and for a bit of fun when I didn't want a challenge, but without a doubt TTDP is the master of making me work hard.

And no one can deny that this is the original reason why they bought the game in the first place.

And I never said they were two different things in reference to their genre, but so much has changed.

What OTTD calls "realistic" is not actually realistic. TTDpatch uses actual _realistic_ acceleration model. But...

Of course - there are tons of OTTD diffs that implement various niceties - but diffs defy the concept of ease-of-use.
