Making them possible on the map array wouldn't be that hard, actually, I once did that with a quick hack. The real problem is that the pathfinder goes berserk when it sees such a bridge. Trains suddenly start jumping up and down from the bridge because the pathfinder thinks it's a crossing.

Rewriting the pathfinder, while certainly possible, seems to be too much work for this relatively small feature.

When my pathfinder works, you can generally generate free style Locomotion like bridges (from the pathfinder point of view)

Hm. Sounds as if there is a glimpse of light somewhere in the room... We'll wait patiently and see how the new pathfinding works out. :)

For TTD game players like me, this would open up the game a great deal and undo a restriction that no one ever imagined would ever happen.

So everyday i will check this Topic, i can dream and hope.

if we can do it the real way ottd shuld be able to. They made there bridges like tunnels in the sence that only the start and end exist but the rest still gets drawn.

Really? So even bridges with curves (not just straight ones)?

curving bridges might get a bit silly (AI rollercoasters in the sky like Lomo? ). But I think diagonal bridges would be welcome, if that were possible.

Curved bridges, yum. :D
Obviously as in Lomo. 8)

I love to see those diagonal bridges or at least diagonal crossings underneath a bridge. I think it would greatly enhance the game and its possiblities (i just think of all the fly-overs we have in holland.)
