To all grf and set authors !!!

Hello
To all set and grf authors, please update and add the entries to grfcrawler, it's a pain to search grfs of the big sets.
Sets have some very outdated links, neither does some sets, like the japan set all grfs listed!
Please take some time to add atleast a small entry with working download link, grfid (important!) and the grf filenames for dos and windows.
I am quite sure you think the set site is very easy to find, but think abit about other people who will not be able to find your site. And only because you are a bit to lazy to add some small entries?
It's really a shame, sorry, but after so much time I do think I need to make this more clear.

The entry for the Japan set is only for the trains GRFs. It says "Trains of Japan, from the early steam engines to the modern "bullet train" Shinkansen."
There are other GRFs, but they are not finished yet, that's why they don't have an entry in GRFcrawler yet. Those versions are updated randomly, and having a link in the grfcraler would mean to be constantly changing the data for each of them.
I didn't add the Japan set link until it was v1.0.
Anyways, the link to the homepage leads to a developement page with a clearly marked "downloads" section where you can find everything else (faces, landscape, buildings, town names and stations)
The forums of the Japan set include many links to that developement site; so I don't think that the Japan set GRFs are:
a pain to search

I have to admit that the japanset isn't all that bad, you had the luck that I had the entry at the time I write open

I am sorry for that, anyway my I ask what needs to be changed in the grfcrawler entry for Japanese Landscape Scenery in the future?
Sidenote: In the Japanese Stations readme, you need to have newstations enabled

I have problem to add GRF ID for Serbian rail set. It contains two GRFs, and I can't add two IDs in entry (and I think it's not so useful to make two entries for one set).
One little suggestion: Because Dinges's site is down, maybe to add "tools" category also?

Hmm... tools don't got GRFIDs and are different from GRFs. Wouldn't it be better to use Linkage for tools, perhaps?

BTW, Linkage is down
Code: Select all
Unable to connect to mysql, please verify the config file
I tried it from two different computers and it's not working.

Ok, thx for the info. I poked SpComb (host and scripter) about it.

A grf can't have two grfids, so, may I ask how you have two grfids?

Because set has two GRFs (one GRF containing standard gauge and one GRF containing narrow gauge vehicles).

As they have two filenames, could you please add an own entry for it...
GRFCrawler is grfid centric, so one grf, one id..., one dos filename, one windows filename.

I know you want one entry per .grf, but at the moment, I'm not going to sit down and do that for all of my sets, I've already explained that to you.
Atleast for the time-being, I've edited the existing, very very old entry for Project Generic Stations to reflect the new location. Not very helpful, I know, but it's better than nothing for now. Well, one entry with fields filled in not quite correctly is better than the old entry which was completly wrong in a lot of areas, heck, who MADE that grfcrawler entry anyway? I didn't, it's under my name though...
As I re-code and release my new stuff (Haven't released anything yet, still coding/waiting on sprites), each will be getting their nice shiny grfcrawler entries and I'll be coding webpages for them anyway.

Either I need control of the PlaneSet entry, or someone needs to poke 459 about fixing the PlaneSet entry. Either way would be fine with me, but the former would probably be better in the long run.

Ok... I hope 459 doesn't mind, if he does, please contact me and I will undo the owner change...
