is it possible to make new buildings as opposed to just replacement sets all the time?
and if possible, how many squares is the maximum per building, eg. if i draw a 3x3 building, can you code it?

Yes. Many of the new building sets add buildings, rather than replacing old ones.
2x2.

2x2? that sucks... is it possible to code seperate 2x2 buildings so that they only buff up against each other is a certain order? - and only build together as "one" unit?

Nope. The only way you could have a building larger than 2x2 is to make it an industry.

In theory you could have an industry that behaves pretty much like a town building, i.e. creating passengers. The Japanset has castles that do this - they are tourist attractions, so they both accept and create passengers. They're only 2x2, but as "industries", I suppose they could be larger.
