OpenTTD switches and TTDP grf-files

Hi everyone!
I hope you don't mind if i open a new topic but since i tried to find a solution for my problem but did not find a proper answer, i decided to register and ask. I always enjoyed the additional features of the patch but now with OpenTTD the dream of larger maps came true.
Searching through the wiki-pages, i found out that i can change the appearance of streets, buildings or whatever. There a some grf files linked at the wiki page that shound work with OpenTTD. Some did, yes, but only those who haven't swichtes like "newstations on" or "newtrains on". I didn't find them in the OTTD config file. I think it's because I'm using the official 0.4.7 release but i just want to ask that if it's true that these features aren't yet implementet in the official release.
If it is possible to change for example the appearance of the stations without using nightly releases, i would be very happy if you can tell me how

Greetings from good ol' germany (and excuse my english  )

There is a difference between a simple sprite-replace and newstations.
The first means that only the visuals change, but for all such sprites. For example replacing the sprite (image) of a station will change it FOR ALL stations everywhere.

Newstations ADDS new station types with new graphics, etc. This is not yet implemented.

Thanks for the answers. I thought that this is the problem. But it would be good enough for me if i can change the appearance of all stations at once, for example with the one on this page [1].
But this file is a self-extracting exe which does something with the game but nothing visible. If there would be something like this as grf-file (or some other stations), it would be ok for me.

Point grdtogrf[0] at the exe, and you'll get a nice GRF file that you can use.
Or run the exe in your data folder.

[0] Google it; I'm feeling lazy right now.

Sorry, it doesn't work with both ways you suggested. I think something with the exe is wrong or at least something is wrong if i doubleclick it to run. Both exe's (grdtogrf and running the newstation exe in the data directory) only leads to a short showing up of the dos-window which is closed immedeatly. Nothing happens then...

That's the way the ttdur exe is supposed to work, but grdtogrf MUST be run from a command line.

If you're using the DOS ttdur with the Windows grf files, or vice versa, no result is the best possible outcome from using the ttdur exe.
