Greek translation problem.

Post by congogr »

Hello. Since I am getting no response the last week on my second email about my wish to create a greek translation of openTTD, I have a problem I guess I could post here.

First of all, i have tried using the following iso-codes for greece on the iso-code field:

el
gr
el_GR
gr_EL
iso-8859-7
8859-7

none of which works, as they create the same problem, which is:

I open the text from win Notepad, translate some strings (on the ANSI coding provided on notepad) and try to strgen. It works, BUT when I select the Greek language, all apear as sdf$#%S$%DG^ :P

Which means, there is either a problem on the TTD USING Greek encodings, Or me, trying something wrong.

ALSO, i tried using Unicode on notepad, which causes the strgen NOT to be able to translate the txt into a language file.

Finally, i tried to use a text editor which provides MS-DOS encoding, and tried translating the first string (native language name) on that. This causes strgen to work, but OpenTTD to CRASH (mentioning an unavailable GFX file -which of course works otherwise) when i open Options.

Could anyone help on that?

Maybe provide the correct codepage string for the translation file if i'm using it wrongly, or better, check (developers) if it is a problem on ttd Not supporting the greek iso codepage, and fix it if possible.

Thanks a lot. ;)

Don't double post
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
