Well, there is a problem. To solve it, you have to fix it.

If you want us to help you solve it, tell us a bit more.

TTD Patch? Stable/Beta?
Crash log?
Config file?
7 seconds, or did you do something after seven seconds?

I never do something at the 7 seconds and it just automatically closes, I was not using any patches currently, Oh, by the way, I would like to know how to install TTD properly, I always encounter problems while installing.

The "automatic close" is not related to the crash log or the config file, it just close without any error boxes.

What version of TTDpatch do you have?
Alpha (number)/Beta (number)/ DOS or Windows version?

EDIT: If you don't use TTDPatch, use it because you need it for win XP (Windows version!), AFAIK.

Sounds like he's trying to run DOS TTD on Windows XP.

Can't you just get TTD Win and install that?
You can probably run DOS using dosbox... but I'm not going to say anything more about that, it's a complicated procedure.

EDIT
Well, even if it's not as that complicated, why not just use the Win version? It runs natively.

once dosbox is setup type

Code: Select all

cd L:
then L:\install.exe
then follow the instructions.
then type cd C:\mps\ttdlx
then C:\mps\ttdlx\ttdx.exe
or C:\mps\ttdlx\ttdpatch.exe for the patch if you have downloaded it.
Replace L: with the name of youre cd drive if you have the cd. Replace C:with the name of youre harddrive.

How about giving me a step-by-step installing procedure since I am still considered 'new' to the game.

DOSBox comes with a readme. Have you read it?

How about following the previous instructions by Robo and telling us what you can't do?
I'll give you a hint, go to http://dosbox.sf.net/ and download that as the first step.

BTW: Highly recommended that you search these forums and download the WINDOWS Version!

Here are the links to get you started.

Here is a link, for the Windows Version of TTDX
http://www.flashback-aw.net/games.php?GameID=101
^^^^
Links to an Abandonware Site, it does say it includes a 2000/XP repack but im not sure if that wroks so best downlaod the patch for optimum performance and playability.
Once youvedone that you will probably need to download the Patch which can be found here to make it work on XP

Sorry, the 'step-by-step' procedure I mean is for Transport Tycoon, not DOSBox, I have already got DOSBox.

I have just installed OpenTTD using the installer. But when I run the game an error box appears and says that missing file: sample.cat

As for the TTD patch, should I choose the DOS one or the Windows one?

The rules are this:
Download WINDOWS TTD.
Copy TTDPatch For Windows into the directory you installed Windows TTD into.
Run TTDPatchw.exe
