James Vassie's Coding Service

Hello everyone

I thought id try this out for a little bit of fun and see what response i get. I use GRFMaker to code so its fairly quick...

Restraints:

It must be an individual grf or a very small set
Nothing too complicated (aimed mainly at newbs)
Must be vehicles (train or road atm)
Only for non-coders :P

Requirements:

Decent-ish graphics that fit into the above.
Some idea of stats (doesnt have to be exact, but must include name and year of intro)

Once youve got all those, post here and ill post the .grf once ive made it!

Hopefully there will be some significant interest in this

Cheers
James

Well i have got a bunch of station sprites waiting to be coded... they should form a special set of dutch trainstations...Perhaps we should PM a bit on that?

Well he said vehicles only. I code stations however, but I'm more of a 'My way or the highway' type. Nah, just kidding on that. I have a particular way of doing things though.

Or James could just learn how to code stations. They aren't terribly hard. Just, okay, yeah, they can be hard at times. I lied.

BTW, how are you doing with the already drawn material for the FRSet? I remember posting all the currently drawn material (diesel and electric) some time ago. Did you set up something with Comrade Sanchez?

I'd like to see a pic of the 2CC2 3400 some time, when it's coded (no rush anyway), because I remember hearing about some flashing pixels I'd like to get rid of: a screenshot would be the best way to do it.
For your reference, I'll post the currently ready rolling stock again here. Note the A1A A1A 62000 was stretched a bit following the tank steamers' redesign.

Cheers

Slow progress tbh, im trying to balance my time between coding/playing/drawing, studying, homework and school. I have coded some things that are there.

As regards Comrade Sanchez, he seems to be a little bit of a let-down tbh, he hasnt posted here in ages, and IIRC, it was he who talked of those flashing pixels!

Once i get some more progress ill be sure to let you know, just one thing, please dont think ive forgoteen the FrenchSet, i havent! :)

Don't worry ;) I myself am taking a break and drawing stuff for other sets. I just wanted to update you with the changed sprites (i.e. the 62000, from the original sprites by DanMack) and some issues we have to solve. As we know, the FRSet's rule is "no rush"

Your idea of helping so many artists is great, keep at it :D

Hehe, thanks Snail!

Mr. X, here is a preliminary .grf just so you can see your trains in-game! :) Still remaining to do is the alignments.

BTW, atm all the trains are coded to be run on normal rails, ie electrified. I did this becuase i wasnt sure which were for what track type, as some have pantographs but a release date of around 2030 it was slightly confusing

Anyhow, here are the .grfs for you to try out! :D

James

Edit: my 1500th post!

aahhh thanks!
well it was the dd-nt and the red baron, I forgot the dd-nt.

Anyway the first one was a maglev vehicle the other rails.

As far as I'm concerned the ones with panto's should work on electrified rails and the others can use also non electrified I dunno.
But it is good as it is. (I'll try it in OTTD :D )
thanks again :!: :D

James would you mind making a grf that makes the default oil tanker efittable to pikka's petrol and plastic. Also i would like the default wood truck to be refittable to pikka's lumber. Same applies to appropriate ships please.

yep thats understandable. For the time being i might be able to get away with the refit ships to all cargoes switch.

Code: Select all

*0 00 02 02 0B 00 18 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 19 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Turning that into a functional GRF is left as an exercise for the reader.

If you got Windows XP, MS Paint can do it. Otherwise, most image editors can do it. Just open de .bmp and save it as .png should do.
