Cant play original transport tycoon...

Hi when i was younger i played transport tycoon A LOT. i have the original cd and stuff but now i have a little problem. i have windows xp and i want to play the game. it installs without any problems. but after i open the game i can play for like 10 sec. and then it just shuts down. anybody knows what is wrong and what i can do?
