Thanks for the reminder. I was going to get a full USA scenario started.
Here is the PNG file (at reduced res.) for the map. Would people prefer a USA in SubArctic climate, or Temperate? I like subarctic for the mountains, but Im not that keen on the US trainset.
(Dont bother saying "all" - it doesnt help, and you all know that without the new map array, multiple climate maps arent possible (without errors)).

Personally, I prefer to play SubArtic for look, but I just can't stand the trainset.
Hence, I'd go with Temperate - the thought of Intercity 125s screaming through the MidWest is quite appealing.

I guess I don't see why you're picking a climate based upon its train set. Is it somehow impossible to load a different train set?
The only things that matter are:
Arctic: High-altitude towns require food for growth.
Tropic: Desert towns require food and water for growth.
Everything else can be customized.

Yes, but in the arctiv climate there are no electric locomotives, not even when you install the electric rails patch. That really sucks.
Btw.: Does ANYONE like those stupid twin-headed locomotives? They may make sense for express passenger trains such as ICE or TGV but really suck for cargo trains. Have you EVER in reality seen such a locomitive in front of a cargo train?

R2, if you want different trains, pay attention to DaleStan and load a new train set. Since you're clearly going to keep on about the default trains until somebody holds your hand, let me point you to
this post on the forum where you can get the North American Renewal Set, which is a replacement for all the Arctic (Hilly) climate trains.

@Brianetta: I don't want a new trainset, basically I'm satisfied with the standard set, even though I like the idea of different looking lorries for the same freight. I tried the DB-train set once and I think there are too many different locomotives in there. I would rather like a slight improvement to the standard set, that's all. Holding my hand is unnessessary but might improve my mood.

You're going to find the attitude of the devs to be, that the default train sets need no work at all because the game supports modification of the train sets using newgrf files.

It's you who put them in front of a cargo train! Anyway, they're real trains, and they're really used in North America:

Hey, I really don't want to argue, ok?

Of course they're real trains, but - as shown on your photo (a very nice one btw) those are more for passenger trains. Of course it's me who puts them in front of cargo trains - but there is no alternative because all other trains are to slow. That's all I wanted to point out. Peace?

The exclamation was more an exclamation of irony than annoyance. Don't worry about me being argumentative - I often come across this way, but people get used to it, I think. I rarely argue about anything I'm unwilling to back down from on-line, so it's all good.
