What a great work of art ISA! Too bad I don't play OTTD and could fit one of those into the landscape...

And follow Dan's suggestion, those "suckers" are indeed huge...

Megahuge...

i don't think there's any such thing as "too big" for an open pit mine... they cover really huge areas IRL.

10x15 is really appropriate. i wouldn't make it too square... but non-square industries like the FIRS sand pit could use two directions. most FIRS industries seem to be / direction.

imo a 8x8 mine isnt that bad, if it produces enough, id rather have a 8x8 mine looking like that then a 2x4 mine that looks like there is nothing going on...

some stuff is supposed to be a bit bigger imo

Regarding the "too large" comment, the industry may overwhelm a 64X64 map, but a couple of those on a 2048X2048 map would be unnoticable. A smaller version should be avaialble, maybe 5X5 or 6X6 and control the larger version by parameter.

One more thing that I'd do is change the colour of the shovel to make it more noticable. Right now it blends in with the mine walls.

Could even offer a bucket loader as an alternate layout ;) Could do the Bagger 288

Really awesome !!

Maybe you could do the same as tourist industry in ECS, with a specific terrain needed to build it. This way the edge could be higher than the bottom of the open mine. I know it s hard for randomly generated map to generate them then, but maybe a "simplish" terrain layout could fix that.

Just a proposition of course, it s allready looking great!!

Uhh I have open a real discussion in here!
Now some say, bigger on is needed, some say that's fine and some say that make a smaller one! Hard to decide!
In other word I take all the opinions and I try to put them into Paint!

Could it be possible to code is so that users could have their own vehicles going down into the mine rather than just using images of vehicles? This just begs to put our HEQS, ISR and other industrial NewGRFs to work!

Our own? No. Only way could be that the road is animated!

If a gap for road was acceptable, then yes.

If you made the industry U shaped and then made road stops to match the surrounding industry it would work

But then the stops don't mach other places and we can't have multiple stops as far as I know.

sadly, newgrf road stations are not implemented yet.

How many tiles would that thing take up on TTD scale? 10x10 just for 1 item of machinery...

It could be a moving industry. That would be a challenge to service...
