A refit for 8-9 cars costs 40.000 euros, much more than the cars themselves and 3x the cheapest locomotive. Why are they so expensive? (is it related to an unimplemented function) I also don't understand why the trains from around 1925 are so expensive(100.000 euros range). Any ideas why?

prices in UKRS are very reasonable, and i kinda enjoy playing it, last night i actually installed TTDP to try some of the new features that OTTD is incapable of running(2CCs, Horns and running sounds, the new industry system), unfortunatly, the bugger crashed on me...

Well, the manual does state that the locomotives cost what they did in real life (except perhaps the ICE and Transrapid ones) and it's bound to be a bit expensive when compared with TT prices. I've got a DBset game with almost 100 trains, with accompanying ships, RVs and planes, and they are making half a billion euros per year, yet I can still only afford about 10 new locomotives every year.

At least in TTDPatch, building cost (for track, signalling, depots, vehicles, ...) would depend on game settings (level: hard, medium, ... ; construction cost: low, ... etc.)

O/c I don´t know how this will work out in OTTD.

> A refit for 8-9 cars costs 40.000 euros

Which cars? What year?

> Why are they so expensive

Well, firstly: the DBXL generally uses real historic prices (at least for the pre 1950s era, and only for the game´s hard level) so this could come unexpected for the unprepared user.

OTOH, coaches in DBXL aren´t that expensive. What is really expensive are the locomotives, especially early electric locomotives (that´s due to game balancing: you´d have to restrict to steamers if unsuccessful in the transportation business).

And yes, the basic reason for slightly higher prices than in original TTD is that wide-spread discontent with money surplus. Now, here´s a set which re-introduces need for management skills (hint: if everything else fails, transport some coal).

> I also don't understand why the trains from around 1925 are so expensive

Well, the first batch of engines (steamers) had been built originally before 1920 and that´s why you get them second-hand at a reduced price.

(BTW, everything can be found in the donotreadme accompanying the set.)

regards
Michael

I don't mind the higher prices. The game is way to easy in terms of getting cash. At least let it be difficult at the beginning :).
